The food was really good, but the service we got was absolutely disturbing. I went there with my boyfriend and we first took a table for two downstairs, but since it was a very crowded afternoon, I asked if we could move upstairs. The staff said yes. After we ordered, a waitress came and asked us to move to another table because a group of six wanted to sit together. I politely asked if we could move to another table for four instead of the only two-person table left, which was right in front of the stairs and uncomfortable. She said, “Yes, of course.” A bit later, an older Italian man suddenly came up to us yelling, saying he was losing customers and that we had to move. He spoke very rudely to me, even though we were just following what the waitress had told us. We were completely shocked, no one had raised their voice, yet he chose to shout instead of talking respectfully. What’s even stranger is that no one ever ended up using the table we were told to leave in the first place. If he had spoken to us politely, things would have been completely different. To make things worse, there was also a middle-aged waiter who kept pushing us to order dessert, and when it came time to pay, he wouldn’t listen to how to use the payment card ,he just kept saying “I know, I know.” I had to firmly tell him to stop before he finally paid attention. Overall, the experience was very disrespectful and disappointing. I rarely leave reviews, but this one truly deserved...
Read moreThis is a pizza/Italian place, a favorite of both locals and tourists alike, and rightfully so because the food here tasted close to the ones I’ve had in Europe, and the prices were also very affordable, a little more expensive but comparable to Lao local restaurants yet not too much so.
I have had some pizzas (surprisingly a calzone too!), a pasta, a chocolate mousse and the tiramisu over a few visits and they were all pretty good. Portions are also filling. I thought the pizza was really authentic to the ones I’ve had in Italy. I especially liked the mousse.
Credit cards are accepted here too.
The staff were all professional and friendly. I would like to especially shout out to ເງິນ, who was the perfect server. She has a bubbly personality and was super attentive, like a younger sister. She passed me some mosquito repellent when she saw that I was swatting some mosquitos, and passed me a box of napkins when she saw that my table did not have one and I was using the one on the vacant table beside, both scenarios I did not mind, but her gestures made me even more grateful.
The staff also all spoke great English. Funny story is I speak enough Thai to get by communicating with all the servers in Lao except with ເງິນ whom spoke to me in English every time until my final night before leaving the country when I revealed that I can speak Thai (or very...
Read moreI'm not one for reviews, but I changed my mind. I've been staying over the road at Capitol residence for several weeks and my first dining at Pizza Da Robby was a lunch time and I had the truffle Ravioli which was very nice. I went back again in the evening, I'm not sure if it was the same or the following day and on that occasion first I ordered salami pizza with gorgonzola. I didn't see what the fuss with the pizza after reading the reviews. However I'm went again for lunch takeaway and had the spaghetti puttanesca which was very nice. next occasion I had the Ragu Bolognese which again was very nice. next occasion take away I ordered the Calzone. I'm not usually a Calonne fan because think many places don't get it right, but this is how a Calzone should be done. I also had the Gnochi Bolognese, I'm guessing that the gnocchi is home made because its so fresh and soft and delicious. Finally I just walked over and saw Roby outside and asked which Pizza he recommended? He said here try the new one, White source, spec (ham/bacon?), one kind of salad on there which he tried to explain to me but I didn't really know, and Gorgonzola. He brought it out to me personally for take away. Man, it was the best Pizza I've ever had in my...
