An excellent restaurant, a bit pricey for Jelgava, but generally worth every cent of it. If you're in Jelgava, and want a steak, this is the place to go. And now that I think about it, I don't really need to qualify that with "in Jelgava". Good quality meat, expertly prepared, and for people like me, who love to stuff their face with steak, there's an option to order a big serving, which comes to about a pound of bloody goodness, served with roast potatoes and assorted other sides. The only downside is that there's no choice of cut or aging.
But that's fair, this isn't a steak joint per se, so to compensate it offers a fairly broad menu of starters, soups, salads, main courses and desserts to suit every taste. Everything I personally tried ranged from bloody good to excellent.
The atmosphere is very relaxing, and in summer season there's a terrace available as well. The view leaves a bit to be desired, but you don't really go to this place for that. There's usually some lounge music playing, but it's surprisingly fitting, and doesn't annoy me personally one bit.
The two things that do slightly irk me are the occasional changes in the menu (some of my old favourites are no longer available - the choice of steaks was slightly larger in the past, and the venison broth was to kill for), and the very limited selection of beers.
Despite that, Parks gets an unreserved recommendation from me. If you're in the vicinity and want to waste an hour or two and spend some cash, just go for it.
Expect to spend between 25 and 50 EUR depending on your order. You may need to wait a bit, especially for steak, serving times can go up to...
Read moreBeen here several times. Food we ordered are always mostly delicious. Seafood Bouillabaisse (more tomatoes than your usual French version but still good), chicken pasta, seafood pasta, chocolate fondant, potato pancakes, beef tartare, salmon tartare. The Poke was odd, it came with spicy mushed up rice instead of the usual white sushi rice. Grilled vegetables was a tiny portion. Salmon was good but also small. Kids loved their burger, not so much the kids sized pasta with cheese (it was rather bland and soggy). Desserts are great. There is a small little kids area for pretend play(eg cooking) and Lego, kids 1-8 would be entertained. The atmosphere was great, very relaxed and chilled, low lighting. Service is a bit of a hit and miss depending on which server you get. We have had 1 consistently attentive and friendly server who informs us what dishes are unavailable when he hands us the menus. We have also had several servers who do not notify us of dish unavailability until we order those dishes. Very slow in serving up food so not a venue for a quick meal. All staff are English speaking so that’s definitely helpful. Overall a...
Read moreOur small group stopped by here for supper when we were staying in the area. We chose it on a recommendation from another friend, and we are certainly glad we did. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating area has an awning to block rain/sun and also has a few heaters if you get chilled. The menu is quite extensive, so you can be sure to find something you like. We started with the Wine Snack Plate. This starter was perfect with our first drinks - a variety of cheeses, meats, nuts, olives, spread, and breadsticks. Our meals came out AFTER our starter was finished - sounds simple, but some places bring out meals while the starters are not done. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their meal. My pasta was cooked perfectly and was nice and hot. Although they only had one type of rib available, they were very tasty. Small note - homemade fries 👍. The staff here was very friendly, the prices were great, and the view was nice as well, sitting at the edge of a small park area. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the...
