Špunka Old Barrel Pub — Restaurant in Panevėžys

I had really been looking forward to visiting Spunka Old Bar in Panevėžys, as I had heard so many good things about this place. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be far more disappointing than I expected.

I went there with a guest from abroad, wanting to show them one of the city’s most interesting spots. From the very beginning, there was a sense of indifference: no greeting, no attention, as if our visit didn’t matter at all. The young waitress seemed busy with glasses, and for someone visiting for the first time it wasn’t clear that service is only at the bar. I had to figure it out on my own, and when I asked questions, the bartender reacted with impatience rather than helpfulness.

The bar itself is very authentic and cozy — the interior is probably the best in town. But everything else ruined the impression. We ordered just one burger. After waiting for over an hour, I asked whether it was still coming. The reply I got was ironic: “Oh yes, it will take a very long time,” instead of simply explaining that meals here take longer to prepare. Finally, the food arrived after about 1.5 hours.

And this is the point: no one had informed us that the waiting time could be this long. If guests were told in advance, it would be easier to accept. Yes, the burger was really tasty, but the lack of professionalism, indifference, and complete disregard for the guest ruined the experience. Two hours for one dish — without any warning — is simply too much.

In short: the atmosphere is great, the food is good, but the service and attitude towards guests are very poor. Sadly, I left extremely...

Nice pub with delicious finger food. Good selection of local beers too. Definitely try the ribs!

We were there for a bday dinner and it was little tough to share the sharing dishes like nacho boards as they come with no side plates (?) So creates a bit of mess of you're trying to share. Would also be a nice touch if you added wet napkins for customers greasy fingers too.

The staff were very friendly but there was a 30min+ gap between each courses. Half of the group left without desert/coffees as it was taking too long.

Overall great place for beer+snacks but maybe not so much for...

We happened to be the first visitors of the day. It took an hour to get the food. Ok, that's a good sign, just be prepared to be patient. Inside it was really cold in winter, at least the wind wasn't blowing through the walls. Also, only cold water for hand washing, which didn't help the overall temperature. The food. Burgers looked great and the quality of ingredients was decent. For my personal taste the 'Smash' burger contained too much salt. Overall, this place is truly unique...
