I've been here for 4 times, and my takeaway would be the same after every trip.
Tucked away by a roadside deep inside the winding roads of balik pulau, 佬友 embodies the tranquility of Penang Island and proves that Chinese cuisine can be so simply yet so, so delicious.
My go-to dishes are the belacan keh sit (belacan fried chicken wing) and prawns in steamed egg. The prawns were fresh in all 4 of my visits and the chicken was crunchy and tender.
Another plus point for me was the environment. Away from the hustles and bustles of the city, this place is frequented mostly by locals. The weather is cooling from the dense forestry around the restaurant.
If you are looking for a no-frills dining experience with good food, do give this place a try. The drive from town is worth it, trust me.

You get to dine in a pretty natural environment overlooking a small little grass patch with birds around. Downside is that there were a lot of pesky flies around but definitely to be expected in an outdoor environment I guess.
