A Truly Fresh Durian Orchard Experience at Wong Durian House, Balik Pulau, Penang! 🇲🇾
Had the chance to enjoy durians straight from the farm at Wong Durian House recently — and honestly, it was a really enjoyable experience that felt different compared to the typical roadside durian stalls or market setups.
We tried two types of durians during our visit — Kampung D11 and Musang King. Both were fresh, creamy, and full of flavour.
The D11 (kampung durian) was surprisingly good — with a more subtle, earthy taste, slightly less rich than Musang King but full of old-school kampung charm.
The Musang King here tasted different from other places I’ve tried — still creamy and bitter-sweet as expected, but with its own unique aroma and texture, probably because it was picked fresh from the tree.
Truly enjoyable — but we couldn’t even finish everything because the portion was generous! We had to pack the leftovers to takeaway.
The environment here is the highlight — you get to sit in a simple wooden hut right inside the orchard, surrounded by durian trees like Musang King, Black Thorn, Udang Merah, D24, Hor Lor, Green Skin and more.
It feels very peaceful and relaxing, a nice change from crowded city durian spots. You can really enjoy your durian in the shade, fresh air, and under the canopy of real durian trees — a rare and authentic experience.
The price was reasonable too — we paid RM80 for both varieties, which I felt was fair for orchard-grade durian, especially Musang King. Not overpriced like some tourist spots.
Facilities-wise — there’s proper parking, shaded seating (the small huts), public toilets and the owner is friendly and welcoming. No pressure selling or rushing — they let you take your time to enjoy the fruit and the place.
Overall, this is a place I’d definitely recommend to durian lovers who want to eat freshly harvested durian right in the farm itself — especially those who want to avoid the crowded commercial stalls and enjoy something more peaceful and natural. Will surely come again for Black Thorn or Udang Merah next time!

Read moreOur second time visiting. First time was ok not too fantastic, decided to give another try during our second trip with family and they are first time in Penang. Second time was disappointing as well. When arrived in the morning there’s only us. There’s a construction going on beside the dining place. Black thorn rm75 per kg, d88 and the rest rm48 per kg and red prawn rm54 per kg. We ordered 6 durians (1st batch rm311 discount rm1 and second batch rm130.04 discount rm0.04). Very stingy and doesn’t know how to build customer relation. Total spending rm440 excluding transport from town. Black thorn doesn’t have much taste and flesh is hard like potato. True enough looks good and once you put in mouth you will taste regrets. Told the seller and nothing was done and say every durian got its own good. Will not come back again. Better eat in town area. Not worth the transport to travel all the way to balik pulau for this quality of durian especially those coming with private hire. Black thorn was the most disappointing. Eat...
Read moreI came here at the end of July 2024 when the durian season is about to slow down.. came to catch the last bus before the durian bit farewell.. 😆😆🤣🤣 Took a grab here and it was convenient. Lots of people and everyone was queueing for their turn to buy their favourite durian. We were kinda late and left very little to choose from.. a little sad because came all the way to Penang for durian. Nonetheless, we managed to savour some good ones. The only species that I've never tried before was called ganja (means marijuana) that cost 36 bucks, then the usual 101 at 47 bucks and musang king at 88 bucks. Overall experience was nice and they have durian replica for you to take photo at the main entrance. But word of caution, please come early and if you're late, you might end up stranded because there's almost no grab will take you back to the other side of the...
