This was one of my favourite pan mee in Penang many years ago. Today I revisited and ordered their dry pan mee together with some dim sum offerings. Do not expect too much from the eatery setup as it is only a simple establishment located on the ground floor in between old apartments. Parking may be a challenge here during meal hours as you'll need to compete with the residents for parking. Hence, I would recommend to come in the earlier hours. Their pan mee offers an option of thin or thick noodles. I still find the the dry pan mee here to be delicious after all these years. Firstly, the noodles were springy and bouncy to every bite and I loved how they were beautifully coated in the dark soy sauce. Speaking of which, their sauce was rich in taste with a strong garlicky hit and aromatic presence of pork lard. The anchovies were crispy and the minced pork meat complimented the noodles well. Do not forget to add an onsen egg to add that creaminess to your bowl of dry noodles. The sambal lent a good tang and some spicy kick to your noodles. Service: The staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive. They deserved five stars service from me
Atmosphere: The restaurant is open air space and tucked within an old flats. It would hard for those who are not local to locate the restaurant. The restaurant is sometimes known as “Pan Mee under a big free” by the local.
Verdict; Well, local may say - it is a hidden gem and known by the local for serving one of the best traditional Pan Mee for decades. In my opinion, the Pan Mee is pretty decent and there are much more delicious Pan Mee in...
Read moreHidden within some old flats, this makan place seems popular . Its a ground floor shop selling mainly pan mee and dim sum. The best thing is you can sit down and eat your food under the cool shade of big trees. Nice! Back to the food. I tried soup pan mee, siew mai and fried prawn roll. While the dimsum is ok, my gripe is with the soup pan mee. The soup is flavourful but the ingredients are disappointing. The noodles are not springy but too soft like overcooked. Fried ikan bilis and pucuk manis too little - i counted 5 small ikan bilis and 8pcs of pucuk manis. And 2 tiny fish balls, plus a teaspoon of mincemeat. Sigh! If you are hungry, yes, just the noodle is enough to fill your stomach. Thats about it. Nothing more to say. So make...
