I recently had the pleasure of dining at Passions Of Kerala in Gelugor, Penang, and it was an extraordinary culinary experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that transported me straight to Kerala.
The highlight of my visit was, of course, the authentic Kerala cuisine served on fresh banana leaves. Each dish was a burst of flavors and spices, a true celebration of Kerala's rich culinary heritage. The fragrant rice, the mouthwatering curries, and the tenderly cooked meats and vegetables all left me craving for more.
The staff here is exceptionally knowledgeable and guided me through their menu with patience, helping me choose dishes that suited my taste. I highly recommend trying their traditional Kerala thali for a complete culinary journey.
What truly sets Passions Of Kerala apart is their commitment to using the finest and freshest ingredients, ensuring that every bite is a delight. The attention to detail in presentation is also commendable, making every meal not just delicious but also a visual treat.
The restaurant's tranquil setting in Brown Garden adds to the overall experience, providing a serene escape from the bustling city. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Penang, Passions Of Kerala is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to savor the authentic flavors of Kerala.

Read moreTasty, comfy food for lunch is the best. As a first timer, I asked my friend for recommendations. He ordered each of us a Tomato rice banana leaf meal with sides of Fried bitter gourd and Special chicken to share.
Tomato rice Banana leaf meal. What will you get? For RM12, you'll get tomato rice, 3 sides of veggies and papadam. 3 types of curry (dhal, fish and chicken) were given to eat with the rice. You can let them know how much rice and sides you want them to serve. It's slightly on the expensive side for me, even though you can add more rice. But no complaints, as the rice was flavourful with spices and tomato taste.
Fried bitter gourd. One of my favourites. RM7 per plate. Crunchy, and well seasoned with no bitterness at all.
Special chicken. Honestly, it's not that special to me. It tastes similar to what we cook at home (if you cook Indian dishes). For RM11, I don't think I'll repeat this again.
Overall, it was a good experience dining there. We arrived 20 mins before serving time and yet they greeted us warmly and had us seated. A waiter quickly came to take our orders and drinks arrived shortly after. Even after we had finished our meal, an uncle came to check with us whether the food was okay. Amazing customer service.
I really love their tomato rice and will definitely go there again for that. Perhaps next time I will order other dishes to eat with the rice.
For Muslims, you can dine there with confidence as they're certified Halal (saw the cert but didn't...

I ordered the banana meal set, which was fantastic. The side dishes, especially the fried tenggiri sambal and egg burji, complemented the meal perfectly.
The customer service was impressive; the staff treated us well and were attentive throughout our visit. The ambience was a highlight, capturing the essence of Kerala's culture with beautiful decor that really set the vibe for the meal.
