OYO 90334 Mawlaya Hotel — Hotel in George Town

I booked deluxe single room (with window) but I was told by the receptionist that all rooms were fully occupied except those without windows. I didn't care less about that since I was pretty in need of a place to stay for a night.

At MYR38, this hotel is among the cheapest you can get in Penang, plus the receptionist was surprised that I got a room at that price especially on Sunday! I couldn't ask for more, only welcoming a place with a single bed and attached bathroom. Not many hotels offer at such ridiculous price with attached bathroom in a single room, so it was really a good bargain for me.

Rooms are at level 2, with iron board just available outside at the common area. water heater is available at the ground floor. A little exercise is needed to climb stairs to level 2. Although a single room is small, but actually it is bigger than a few more expensive hotels I've been before, as I had to pray on the bed itself. Luckily, this room has some space that is adequate for you to perform prayer.

While many hotels in Georgetown area have problems with parking space, here the hotel has ample parking spaces for free. Since it is situated next to business permises, so you don't have to fret to get your food and drinks, even get your clothes wash at the nearby...

They will make you pay extra money, in addition to the amount you have already paid on Booking, Agoda or another booking site. What their trap looks like: you booked this room because it has a low price, and when you arrive at the hotel, they will ask you to pay another 50% of the cost, for breakfast, but you cannot refuse, either you pay this money or you will not be allowed into the room. The hotel is very far from the city center, the taxi ride already took a lot of money.

According to the rules, travelers must pay only the fixed price indicated when booking.  BUT UNTIL YOU PAY THESE SCAMMERS EXTRA MONEY, THEY WILL NOT LET YOU IN THE ROOM!

I was abandoned on the street at night, not allowed into the hotel, because I refused to pay the EXTORTIONERS extra money!! Even though Agoda got money from me for this hotel! I still have not received my money back. Stay away, the owner of this hotel...

WORST MANAGEMENT EVER. Booked via OYO app and paid online. Called them earlier that I will be late and they said not a problem. Finally arrived at 11pm after more than 10 hours drive. ||||Was told by the nice lady at the front counter that rooms were double booked and no single rooms available. Discussed for a solution e.g. free upgrading as it was not my fault they double booked. Nice lady called her manager/owner. I told him of the binding contract and asked for help. ||||This rude manager/owner sarcastically told me there is only the TOILET available. He further rudely told me if I want him to build a new room with cement now to accomodate me and the last straw was when he threatened to call the police. He also told me this is not the first time it happened and he is not afraid nor rattled of this issue. He told me to deal with OYO myself and this is not his problem. How can he treat a paying customer like this.||||PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE TREATED...
