Very homey and affordable seafood “zichar” We chanced upon this place as we were looking for a late dinner spot (opens till 10pm), a brief description of the food we had:

The garlic “lala” clam broth had a sour and garlicky twang to it that was very refreshing, clam meat was average size and fresh. The black pepper chilli crab (3 crab 1kg 135rm) was very fresh and meaty enough, the black pepper flavour was not too spicy but very smokey which was good. Every piece of crab was coated in a layer of thick black pepper sauce. Abit too salty and dry for my liking but still a good black pepper base. The steamed red grouper was average but the fish was fresh and meaty. A lot of deep fried “cai-poh” preserved radish on top which was so good. Salted egg baby cabbage was pretty average, salted egg flavour was strong and creamy. The marmite pork ribs were the highlight for me, the pork ribs were steamed before being stir fried in the sauces, which made the meat extra tender and juicy, the ribs were big and a good balance of meat and fats. Highly recommend.

There was no menu, so we just trusted the word of the staff, who recommended a list of dishes (probably subjective to each table) and honestly we were not disappointed by the recommendations. Overall solid food and solid service, as the staff kept coming to check on us and having small talks with us. For all the seafood we ordered, the total bill was 290RM, ~90SGD, which is already very affordable compared to other seafood eateries we went to in...

I recently migrated from HK and now live in Jelutong. Teoh’s is my go to most favourite restaurant in Penang which I regularly visit, whether with families and friends both local or international. I’ve been to restaurants with all the best bells and whistles but Teoh’s is the most down to earth restaurant where you can enjoy really good simple food at very reasonable prices.

I had a house warming party at the end of January this year at Setia Sky Ville and requested Teoh’s to cook a delicious dinner for 20 persons as a take out. The Chefs made some special dishes which really impressed our guests locally and from HK Taiwan and Japan on how delicious it was, even though it was a take out. The staffs were friendly and courteous even though there was a slight language barrier but we always top it with a smile and understanding.

There’s limited parking but lots on the street so it’s easy for 1-2 minutes walk. My friends and family loves their Salted Egg Crabs and Chai Por Steam Fish and strangely the Sambal Petai. So this restaurant- Teoh’s is a little gem and highly recommended. Book early to get a table with air conditioning as they are always full.

Today is a light take out for us as we’re going on vacation tomorrow. Going to miss this food whether take out...

Pls U Turn or whatever turn to other restaurants.

Service: (Negative) -100/10 Food quality: 0.01/10

1)Drinks: Why is it so difficult to just honestly tell customers you do not serve non-sugary drinks? We asked 3 times to confirm the drinks we ordered do not contain any sugar. Yet, still served us with sugary drink. Later, we got scolded by the head waiter who prepare drinks bcoz we requested for change or explanations.

2)Food: waiter rudely gave us assurance that their high end fish definitely will have high end quality and freshness. Unfortunately, steamed coral trout taste like 5 years frozen fish. Don mind to pay for exclusive fish but definitely not going to pay for awful quality like this.

  1. Be prepared to see horrendous face by waiter if you planned to just have common type of fish such as tilapia or so.

We have been regular here, but then now onwards, unless all other eateries on earth shut down, we won’t step back into this place anymore. You have successfully ruined our evening with...

One of the rare few hidden gem in town. Reasonable price with great taste of home-cooked dishes. Signature steamed coral grouper with dried fried turnips菜脯七星斑 is the star of the show - interesting texture of crunchy fried turnips paired with soft yet fresh fish flesh, it gets addictive especially with rice! Braised pork ribs 镇江排骨, highly recommended to get a bigger portion as the fried pork ribs coated with a thick layer of savoury sauce was juicy and meaty. Charcoal Homemade Curds黑豆腐 , the tofu was as soft as custard, melted right away with a hint of black bean taste. Superior spinach soup上汤芫菜, good for anyone to get more fibre intake as the salted egg and dried shrimps bring out the umami flavour and makes the bowl a comforting one. The gentleman taking order was friendly as well, recommending dishes according to preference and size of group without trying to hard sell expensive items.

First of all, parking is really hard to find at this place. So basically you have to park at roadside and really hope no summon during that period. We booked our table so I can't comment much if you can walk in but it is pretty packed when I visited today. Overall, food is delicious. I love the "Pai Kut Ong" dish and the curry prawn is delicious too. The fried salted egg mantis prawn is nice too. For the other dishes that we ordered, it is good as well. The service is prompt and basically we enjoyed our dinner group outing at this restaurant. Price is pretty reasonable imho. At current market rate when everything is expensive, can't really complain much.
