You may be forgiven for NOT being able to find the eatery even though you've followed Waze/Google maps to the last inch. Just off the main Kulai-JB road, it sits on the fringe of Lorong Satu, Jalan Ismail. You have to be very brave to park by the roadside as a tiny collapse of the side embankment can sent your precious vehicle tumbling into the shop and on its patrons. This eatery occupies 3 shop-lots - no kidding! But i could never understand why IT DOESN'T sport signboards. But somehow, people know how to get their for their beef noodle/pork noodle kick. For starters, there is someone always ready to help you with your order. It works with a queue in mind. Their menu doesn't read English so you'd have to decide on your order even before she asks you. Next, you are given a number and then you go into any one of the three shops to find your seat. Someone will ask you for drinks. Once served, you are required to pay for it as both drinks and food stall is from separate owners. Once food is served, you pay. The queue number is taken away, which means you have settles your bill.
Firstly, the noodles (dry/soup) are of generous portion sizes. Meat is also generous. No peanuts or pickled veggies on your dried beef noodles. No herbal, ginger or while pepper to overwhelm your taste buds. It is natural taste and naturally flavored beef soup. Most of all, it is truly AFFORDABLE (I won't divulge the price) but the price is really below what the market dictates. Go try,...
Read moreArrived just before 12 noon, too late for beef noodles which they stop serving by 10.30am. By the way, they are open from 6am to 1.45pm only. Had to settle for dry pork bee hoon but it did not disappoint.
Portion was mid sized and the gravy was fragrant and flavourful. Do remember to add a dollop of their chilli sauce which somehow reminds me of Hainanese chicken rice chilli sauce.
Within the plate you get about 8 slices of pork and two pieces of liver. Special mention for the liver because even though it was sliced thinly, it was not overcooked. Bit crunchy on outside and tender inside. The soup tastes very nice with bits of fried garlic and celery but it was a bit too salty for me.
At RM7, this is a very good pork bee hoon, value for money. But those with bigger appetites, do feel free to add noodles. Service was polite and fast too!
Update 27 Feb 2024. Finally got around to come taste their beef noodles. I have to say it’s better than their pork noodles! Strongly recommend to all those beef noodle lovers!
By the way, there is a small table posted at the entrance selling Cai Ban (Hakka Soon Kueh). Go for it. Pastry skin is thin and packed with ingredients. Dip into the chilli that they provide and enjoy the flavours bursting...
Read moreThe beef noodles that have been running with the 3rd generation, and it had serve my family for 4 generation.
The good news is the taste have not change since the day I get to know the beef noodles. Some like dried and some like soup, personally I used to like dried in my early day, nowadays I tend to go for soup, still I like both. Had not found another beef noodles that taste any where close after working for 20+++ years in different part of the world.
The shop expanded so it's easier to get seating, the 3rd gen had systemized the ordering process for the better.
The shortfall the beef serving is not as much as it used to be, due to inflation, so go for extra meat “加料”。
Important that beef noodles generally run out very fast, so be early if beef noodles is what you're after. How early? Try to be there before 8am. Consider yourself lucky, we used to aim before 7am...
