Brought a British couple to let them experience a typical Asam Pedas restaurant which we had frequent numerous times over the years though not lately. Restaurant condition has seen its better days. Cleanliness below par. Can’t feel any cool air with aircon on. Service was fast as we were the only table ordering. But the workers - expressionless & just ‘dropped’ the dishes! Standard of cooking, nothing to shout about. Chili prawns taste fresh. Fried sole fish a bit too dry. Belacan Kang Kong, more stalk than leaves & too oily. Fried sotong ok. We picked 2 slices of Red Snapper for our Asam Pedas. As my wife dug into it, she commented the fish doesn’t taste right! We summoned the chef & after ‘discussion’ , he admitted they switched to Siakap fish! I think this is plain dishonest & outright cheating? Just wonder how many unsuspecting customers have been duped? This shop houses is located somewhere in Taman. So away from traffic congestion, parking, long human queue, we had an enjoyable lunch in a nice makan place that is peaceful and clean.
Ordered assam fish, which the lady asked us first to pick the choice of fish head in the kitchen.
Oyster eggs which has big fresh oysters. Stir fry veggies, otak-otak which come out very delicious 🥲🙏
The people also come check our tea pot to see if need to refill hot water 👍
Maybe if you like spicier assam fish, can request. For us, the spicy level suitable for kids.
Sedap! And affordable price 😁 Glad we detour away...

The seafood is priced according to weight and very fresh. Rice is warm and they prepare the juice freshly upon order.
Auntie offered soy sauce to go with the dragon tongue fish. It has many fine bones but it’s crispy and light. Need to take care when eating. The assam pedas is sour and goes very well with rice.

Parking is ample on a weekday afternoon at 2pm and we didn’t have...
