In a nutshell: Decent food, good ambiance and a clean environment, soured by pretty poor service.
Let's get the good parts out of the way first. My Aglio Olio was alright. The pasta itself was pretty much "Al Dente" as they call it, and the amount of olive oil added was just right for me, and additional chili flakes helped spice it up a bit, although the mussels were a tad overcooked. The grilled chicken also tasted pretty good, as was the smoked duck salad.
The ambiance was very relaxing and perfectly fitting for the mood and to top it off, it's pretty clean. It's not what I'd call "spotless", but it's still more than clean enough to inspire confidence.
Why then, the 2/5 rating? Well, the service is, quite honestly, a mess.
It was quite obvious after the 25th minute of waiting that something was really wrong. Among the issues I noticed were; Waiters being somewhat inattentive and slow to respond to customer requests Waiters not understanding which orders were supposed to go to which table. The main course arriving long before the appetizers The inconsistent timing of food delivery depending on table Extremely long wait times for even seemingly simple-to-prepare foods like salads. Customers needing to call for multiple staff members to check on yet-to-be-served orders
There just doesn't seem to be a well-thought out system in place, at least just yet. It was Valentine's when I ate there, which may or may not have made things extra difficult for them.
I do encourage those running the place to take a good hard look at how the service goes and implement improvements and changes where needed. Given the general sentiment by others when I came, seems that I'm not alone in thinking that the service really needs improvement.
There's potential in this place, owing to the food and the ambiance. But unless the service improves significantly, it may never...
