Visited this place with a friend of mine for the first time yesterday (our first time in Kluang too), and we had to queue for around 30minutes (we were there at around 1+pm). But it didn't let us down; most of the food that we ordered were delicious! We ordered: 1 sambal bun 1 kaya butter bun 1 bowl of wanton mee 1 bowl of laksa 1 bowl of mee tai mak 3 bottles of the ice coffee original 1 cup of ice neslo 1 cup of 3 layer coffee
The sambal bun (if you like spicy food), kaya bun (if you love a good mix of thick butter and not-so-sweet kaya), wanton mee (if you love lighter taste with a chewy noodle texture), and the mee tai mak (if you enjoy the dried kind with sweet sauce) are the must-order food!
Neslo was alright (not too sweet but thick) but the 3 layer coffee was very sweet (and it doesn't look anything like what's shown on the menu).
The staff and service there were also friendly, efficient, and fast!
As for sight-seeing, there isn't much to see as most areas are blocked off from visitors.
Will recommend everyone who's heading to Kluang to try...
Read moreDefinitely a worthwhile stop if passing through Kluang Railway station.
There is a queue when we were there (15-20mins).
Once inside, server will leave order sheet and return to collect, once completed.
We ordered quite a lot as everything looked tempting, after the wait!
Personal favourites Laksa Johor Although not 100% authentic, it was uniquely tasty especially when eaten hot.
Half boiled egg Cant go wrong with this one!
Cucur This was a nice surprise, crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside (cliche 😃) and mostly it was tasty, served hot.
Cold coffee Basic and nice on a hot day! Icy cold, palatably sweet with the perfect tinge of coffee bitter.
Spouse likes the kaya butter bun and ordered a lot. I however abstained as am not too keen on the "generous" butter/magerine spread 🫣
The one star off is because of the flies! Had to continuously fan over our food as they were a tenacious bunch. If you are particular about this then it is best to give this establishment a pass or...
Read moreI visited this place as a tourist, as recommended by the guide : they earned their reputation serving plain coffee without milk to the head of state who patronize the place lots of time.
They serves traditional breakfast with a great variety of local cuisines such as mee siam and nasi lemak. The coffee without milk comes with a local recipe that promises a strong, acidic fragrance. I personally think it's a MUST TRY for coffee connoisseur who favours strong brew. The toast come with kaya (coconut jam) and butter, served crispy and hot from the toaster, complements the coffee as a great breakfast.
The service is also good! I know very little malay for conversation. But it does not stop the staff from understanding what I wanted to order, coupled with a simple menu to add to convenience of ordering. The speed of service is also rather fast, taking into consideration I visited on a day when the restaurant was crowded.
Overall, a MUST visit place for coffee and...
