I rarely leave bad reviews, but Woodfire Desaru deserves this. Absolutely the worst dining experience I’ve had, and shocking that this is under the Woodfire name. We visited on 7th and 8th September with a large group, and the service was downright appalling. A staff named Fadilah actually shouted at us in front of everyone — completely unprofessional and humiliating. When I complained, the so-called supervisor Adib (with dyed blonde hair) told me it was acceptable for staff to shout at customers. Let that sink in: the supervisor defended a staff shouting at paying guests.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, when I was collecting my takeaway, a kitchen staff casually told me that “Fadilah’s father just passed away,” as if that’s supposed to be a reason or excuse for the way we were treated. What on earth does that have to do with me, or any customer? If a staff member isn’t in the right state to work, management should step in — not expect customers to tolerate abuse and then justify it with personal issues. That’s not my concern, nor should it ever be.
The restaurant itself was dirty, with sticky, uncleaned outdoor tables. For a place carrying the Woodfire brand, this branch is a total embarrassment. I am a regular at the CIQ outlet, and the difference is night and day: there, the staff are polite, professional, and the place is clean. At Desaru, it’s pure chaos, rudeness, and filth.
This is not about the money we spent, it’s about basic respect, professionalism, and hygiene. Whether I spend RM10 or RM1,000, no customer should ever be shouted at, disrespected, or given ridiculous excuses for bad service.
Woodfire Desaru needs a serious shake-up in management. If this is how things are run here, then it’s a disgrace to the Woodfire brand and to Desaru’s...

Read morewent during the new year weekend ard 4-5pm thinking that there would be reduced queue but that wasnt the case (full house, need to wait for empty tables).
no proper parking space provided, all other patrons park like its their grandfather's road, blocking the road & ultimately endangering others. owner should've provided adequate if not SAFE parking option, but instead parking is ultimately at your own risk.
this isnt a self service restaurant, but the staff didnt really bother clearing the tables. it wasnt so busy considering woodfire is always packed, but either they're understaffed or the staff couldnt be bothered. you'll get served your order BEFORE they clear your table. they could've cleared the table as they served our order, but we were told 'kejap' and the staff never came back. so its on your own incentive to clean the previous customer's table if you want to be seated comfortably.
food is either a hit or miss, some are good, some are meh while some definitely not worth the money (skip the milkshakes, theyre rm18+ but the taste is not very nice and the portion is rather small). the only positive is the wait time is doable. but you'll definitely leave on a not so full stomach if you only get a drink+burger, which is something to consider when taking in the price.
in gist, you may come if youre not starving and dont mind waiting and going through the hassle. but you're really only coming for the food, the service & ambiance and especially parking needs to...
