I didn’t get the chance to try the original SFZ Vegetarian Restaurant. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, it’s already changed ownership and been renamed 天缘. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning.
I don’t usually write bad reviews, unless the food is really disappointing or the service is unacceptable. Sadly, this place checks both boxes when it comes to food quality.
I ordered the Thai fried rice, expecting something close to tom yum fried rice. I even asked the staff about it, and she confirmed it was tom yum-style with string beans, mushrooms, etc. But what I got was a plate of rice mixed with frozen green peas, carrots, and corn, and a few tiny chopped mushrooms — maybe five small pieces, barely noticeable.
The flavor was bland, but the worst part was how excessively oily it was. I asked the owner if it was oil, and he said it was “sauce” 😅 — but it was clearly just oil. The dish didn’t taste or look like real fried rice; it felt more like ingredients stirred into oil. Honestly, I felt nauseous afterward.
We also tried the black pepper mutton rice. The taste was average, and again, it was too oily. Even the wheatgrass drink tasted off — nothing like real wheatgrass.
To be honest, the food here is bland, greasy, and unhealthy, and it’s not cheap either. There are definitely better vegetarian places out there for the same price or less.
Sorry, but no next time. I truly hope the new owner rethinks the menu and tastes the food before serving it. The current standard is simply...
Read moreOne of the best in Bukit Anggerik - Alam Damai area for vegetarians. It is a restaurant that only serves vegetarian food. They have both pre-cooked menus (nasi campur) and freshly cooked (goreng items) served fresh and hot. One of my favorite items is their ying-yong. You cant expect a very high end settings, but I'd say its practical and for the joe who is on the run and just wants to get a decent meal in a clean restaurant, non air conditioned but has an extensive menu selection, including with options for family based menus, which serves up to 10 pax. They have specific opening hours and at some time of the month, they are closed to observe...
