We got a table for 2 here. The 3 dishes we ordered were Sushi Dinner Set (comes with Somen, Sushi, Smoked Duck Salad, Miso Soup, Tofu Cheesecake) [RM42.90], Salmon Mania Maki [RM30] and Iberico Pork Ribs [RM85]. The name of this place was the irony in the sense that we felt like we were treated like their lab rats. Here’s why:
Before ordering we specifically clarified with the waiter that the Salmon Mania Maki contains no crabstick as I don’t eat crabstick. It arrived with crabstick. Got the waiter to change it. That’s fine. However, the main issue was the freshness of their sashimi (salmon, etc). Their salmon sashimi (the main sashimi we ordered) had a foul smell and taste. It was also warm and it had bones in it [refer to photo]. I thought it was on the borderline of being edible. I was also very hungry at the time I ate it, so I just went ahead but I’m regretting it now as I’m feeling nauseous. Moreover, we informed the waiter who said “We cut our salmon freshly every day. The salmon today is less tender”. This did not indicate anything about the freshness of the salmon because it could’ve been sitting in the store for god knows how long before it was actually cut “today”. This applies to both the Salmon Mania Maki and the sushi from the Set.
The tofu cheesecake that came with the Dinner Set is another good wake-up-call to reality of the phrase “Pictures are for illustration purposes only” AND with heavy strings attached. Picture showed 2 pieces, but reality came as 1 piece. I thanked god that we did not attempt to consume it beyond a microscopic bite as it gave off a horrendous rancid taste and an extremely foul, sour and spoilt smell. When we told the waiter to smell it, he replied “Oh.”
On the brighter side of things, the Iberico Pork Ribs did not fail in any sense. It was perfectly cooked, delicious and tender. Same can be said for the Somen, it was extremely delicious and a very good consolation to the horrendous meal that we were having. These factors contribute to the sole “Star” that’s [automatically] given. If you do decide to patronise this place, I’d recommend their...

Overall: Taste-wise is good however seasonings somehow too salty, especially Japanese Cold Somen. Feedback about this and restaurant manager willing to compensate with the food exchange however friend that having this doesn’t want the noodle anymore(couldn’t finish half of it because too salty), so asking to change to two sushi of any kind, and the manager agreed to it.
Sushi rice seems kinda too soft. Prefer it harder a bit.
The miso soup also kinda mild “aji” but salty, can be better. Foei Gras Chawanmushi is really nice.
If you’re not ordering other drinks, they will serve drinking water at room temperature , or, you can request for warm water as well, it’s the same. They’re kind enough to refill even...
Read moreWe were looking for a new Japanese place for dinner when we came across this on google map. It’s apparently quite popular and was full when we called in to book a table for dinner on a weekend. When we reached at 8pm, the place was still relatively packed and we decided to seat outside which was just nice with the mild evening breeze. The menu was quite extensive and had a bit of everything a good Japanese restaurant should have. The sushi menu was quite different from the regular commercial Japanese restaurant. So we ordered a sushi platter which I felt was well made, and almost like those you get from omakase restaurant. My daughter had the beef don which was very good. My only grouses was that the California hand roll could had been better, it didn’t have any tobiko and was rather bland. Will certainly go back to try out other dishes. Prices are higher than typical Japanese restaurants too but it’s...
