Nice comfortable, no frills deco, well lighted and clean. Friendly staff but mostly foreigners, knowledgeable of menu.
Fast floor service but kitchen service need to be patient as the only make the food upon order.
We visited few more times as we like the ambience, which is calm.
Pork fillet ginger onions on plain rice - ok, not to say very good.
Hainam chicken rice - really nice, good rice fragrance of chicken rice, chicken smells great and tasty too.
Fish slice noodles with milky broth - i find this nice too, can repeat again.
Pork fillet lemon grass with fried rice - the pork is a bit dry but loaded with lemon grass, fried rice ok laa
Hokkien mee/prawn noodles - portion a bit small, tasted ok but not the heavy sweet taste.
Lor mee - ok lor but small portion. The gravy wasn't too thick while the noodles were QQ (you know what I mean)
Rice in superior seafood soup - nice for a rainy day, served in claypot. The clear soup was tasty with bit and chunks of seafood. Not porridge, just rice in soup. Very nice
All their meals are set that comes with a drink, the hor ka sai though noted less sweet was still very sweet. The ginseng chrysanthemum tea is nice, recommended to order less sweet.
Later date visits: nyonya fried beehoon with tumeric chicken, the beehoon is soft, nicely fried flavourful with sambal served on the side. claypot loushu fun was burnt though. The claypot was heated to too high...
Read moreCame over with another 2 pax to tryout because of the reviews. Apparently hainanese chicken chop and the curry mee was really good.
Ordered fried chicken nasi lemak. Anticipated for it but wasn’t to my expectation, the coconut rice was far too salty, decided to let it go until I had the chicken, it’s so over-cooked and it tasted “off” like overnight chicken that has been double fried, you know something has gone bad when you tasted it. Requested if I could change another dish, a pic came to understand what is going on and explained that their food is prepared on a daily basis, the chicken is microwaved before frying. I also mentioned that the rice is too salty, gave me a very puzzled face but they agreed to change a new dish of nasi lemak with new fried chicken and change to plain rice instead according to their suggestion.
I understand that you may have your method of cooking, no hard and fast rules to be followed but I believe when a customer says that something is wrong with the food, something is really wrong, no one customer would want to simply find fault and tell your food is not good.
Second nasi lemak came. Instead of plain rice, I guess they realised that the coconut rice was far too salted so they fixed it, finally not so salty. Fried chicken, still over cooked but better than the first one because for obvious reason it doesn’t taste “off”.
Giving a 3 star because other...
Read moreFirst time here, off to a good start with Nasi Lemak w/ Ayam Goreng (kuyit/yellow ginger), Wat Tan Hor (have umami/wok hei/garlic) and Asam Laksa (strong taste/sour/spicy).
The Wat Tan Hor is ever so very slightly on the sweet side, can be easily fix with a little soya sauce that come with the green preserved chilli.
We also ordered a Tuna Croissant. Actually wanted only simple butter but not in menu. My boy ordered it anyway. It was ok, hard to judge with the mayo tuna.
Trouble is with the 2x Fried (not roasted) Chicken Rice. It came late, we complained after 25 minutes as other tables were served. We finished our other meals already by this time. They probably forgot.
When it came my hungry son finished it and my wife only complained to me at the end that the chicken is dry, salty and over cooked. Only one piece of the chicken was left for me to take photo and taste. We didn't complain to them on this, but probably overheard us.
Looking at the texture and dryness of the drumstick, either they recook stale food or defrosted quickly using microwave and over cooked it causing it to dry out. Something that is usual for prime meat like drumstick.
During payment, the cashier apologized for the dalay and took off one plate of the...
