Out of my visits to 20+ countries, this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had.
To start with the unprofessionalism: the waiter (Waqar) was extremely rude. When I tried to discuss the issue with the lassi, his response was, 'You don’t know what lassi is,' and he also said, 'If you don’t like the lassi, then why did you take a sip in the first place?' We were about to leave the place when the manager came and begged us to give him another chance, stating that the food was already prepared. Knowing this, we decided to give him a second chance as we didn’t want to waste food.
But then came the main course of unprofessionalism: We clearly asked the waiter about vegetarian options, and based on his recommendations, we went ahead with the veg biryani. Before ordering, we clarified with him about the presence of meat, egg, or fish in the biryani, and he assured us that it didn’t contain anything and was prepared separately. However, after finishing half of the plate, we discovered pieces of bone and beef in it. When we spoke to the chef and the manager about it, he shrugged us off casually, saying, 'Yeah, it’s possible.' We took photos and videos of the incident and asked him for a proper bill so that we could file an official complaint with the authorities, but he told us to speak with the owner instead.
And that’s where we encountered the dessert of unprofessionalism: we spoke with the owner, and to our surprise, the owner of Delhi Palace is Pakistani. I mean, why are you tarnishing India’s name by providing such unprofessional services? Why not name the restaurant Lahore Place or Karachi Restaurant?
For all Indians who are planning to go here, just don’t, as this is a Pakistani place. And for all Malaysians, please don’t visit it, as it’s not an Indian restaurant at all. I would recommend you go to 'Taste of India' at Cenang Beach, which offers a much closer Indian experience than this horrible place.
Update: We thought this was where the story ended, but it hasn’t. When I posted this review, the owner called both us and our driver and threatened us to remove the review. We removed it for the time being, but you might be in another country but as a Pakistani if you think you can threaten an indian then you are not just idiotic but...
Read moreWe were looking for an Indian restaurant for lunch in Langkawi and found this place to be the closest option. I've attached the price list and menu with this review.
We waited around 35-40 minutes for the food to arrive. For the price, the taste was decent, but the portion size was disappointing. The garlic naan, unfortunately, was served cold and hard, making it difficult to enjoy.
Service wise, it was a letdown, especially considering the price. In most places across Malaysia, when you order a Coke with ice, they fill the glass with ice and provide the bottle or can separately. Here, we were given barely a quarter glass of ice, which was still fine, given the hot and humid day, the ice melted quickly. But when we asked for more ice while eating, we finished all our food before it ever arrived. Only after asking three times, with our Coke already bland and watered down, did they finally bring the ice.
As for dessert, we ordered Gulab Jamun. It took them quite a while to serve it. In fact, we had already gone to the counter to pay when the staff pointed towards our table, saying the dessert had been served. Luckily, when we finally got it, it was fresh and tasted good.
To top it all off, there was a 10% "service charge" added to the bill.
Overall, while the food itself was decent, the poor service really overshadowed the experience. I'd say it's worth trying once if you're curious, but personally, I wouldn't go back a...
Read moreWe had lunch here as a family of 4 adults and 1 toddler. While the food was decent, we were taken aback by the water's attitude and service. He acted as if our visit had greatly inconvenienced him and was making zero effort to even appear pleasant..First, he made some lame excuse for not giving us the baby high chair that was lying unused. He said the previous family having a baby should get the chair. They were halfway through their meal and when he walked up to them with the chair, they said they don't need it. His responses to any question about the menu was curt and unwelcoming of any further questions. When he came to pick up the menu after we had placed our order, my toddler was browsing through the card (for fun) so i asked him to leave it with us. He proceeded to take it away from my toddler and walked away. At the end, i saw we were charged a 10% service charge which i requested him to take off. He declared it was mandatory to pay 10% service charge and it was non negotiable. Apparently, it was the law, per him. I didn't have the time or resources to refute his claim but now when I check online, I'm unable to find any such rule. We've had such pleasant experiences in all Malaysian restaurants and it was disappointing to see such sour attitude in an...
