Hachi Gatsu Izakaya Royal Langkawi Yacht Club — Restaurant in Kedah

I decided to try this Japanese restaurant based on its 4.3-star rating, but it was a huge letdown.

The sashimi platter had an unpleasant smell, clearly not fresh. The pan-fried dumplings were still frozen inside, showing they weren’t cooked properly. The zaru soba was mushy, and the dipping sauce tasted old and lacked flavor. The steamed egg had a strange taste, likely due to stale ingredients. Even the cucumber roll, meant for the kids, was off.

We sent back the sashimi and dumplings, yet the bill still came to 270RM for a disappointing meal. Definitely not a place...

Good conversation with friends or family over a decent Izakaya styled Japanese meal, close vicinity to spot amazing sunsets...this is whats on offer here. Although slightly bigger than the izakayas in Japan, Hatchi Gatsu has a pretty extensive menu and excellent portions sizes for you to want to try everything. Service, I must say was impeccable! The wait for food was around 10mins and the servers were attentive, fast and friendly. Theres indoor and outdoor seating, though it can get noisy outside at times, but all in all a good experience....
