Nasi Lemak Haji Ali — Restaurant in Kedah

Nasi Lemak Haji Ali is another competitor to other Nasi Lemak branches in Kedah. While all these restaurants don't serve traditional nasi lemak like we've always eaten for breakfast, it got a nice twist and fusion with Nasi Kandar. Enough with that let's get down to the real review of Haji Ali. The foods are fantastic! I would say this is the best Nasi Lemak-Kandar-esque in town (Alor Star). The fragrance and full with spices rice, with the fried chicken and extra veggies will fill your stomach to the fullest happily. Another legendary long standing nasi lemak place in Alor Setar. Hailed more than 50 years ago, Nasi Lemak Haji Ali has been serving to about hundred customers per night.

The rice is soft and fluffy with a hint of tumeric and coconut milk. Quite light for a nasi lemak I might add. The star dish is the fried chicken. Freshly fried from a huge wok in front of the shop. Always fresh.

They a few types of gravy so having kuah campur or mixed gravy will come from dhall, kurma and curry. Not as heavy as some other nasi kandar places where the mix gravy can come from 10 different dishes.

Price is very affordable though parking is tough. You may need to park further away...

Service is too slow only one guy handle the nasi kandar no matter either dine in or take away...another big guy i don't know either his an owner or not but he don't need to be there if he don't do anything by only writing the price n wrap the rice (he didn't even prepare the rice take away), so his basically useless there...the food is good you always get hot chicken...they should change their system where one prepare for take away n another prepare for dine in then everything will be efficient...if anyone want to come here hope you prepare to queue more than 1 hour while cursing why the big guy didn't...
