OK...qualifier here. The 5-star rating is based solely only on one single dish - the assam prawns. Asked locals where I can find the best assam prawns in town and I was directed to this nondescript eatery. Place is not much to sing about, hence the 2* atmosphere for being cooling and airy. But what told me that I have hit the jackpot is that every single table of diners had the assam prawns dish. Service was warm, as to be expected from SP-ians. Always welcoming and polite. The assam prawns... mind blowing! Huge palm-sized prawn, fresh, and well marinated and coated in tamarind sauce and sugar. Well executed... the final product is sour enough, well caramelised, and with a strong wok hei tang to it... I really enjoyed the dish... Delish!!! Couldn't help licking my fingers after each prawn. And oh did I mention that it was a take-out? Will be back for just this dish alone, as a dine in! 😋😋

Fish slices were quite big and curry was super fragrant Sambal kangkung was outstanding,the best that I have ever had Sambal squid and shrimp's sauce was superb The dried longan drinks that we ordered were good too,thirst quenching drinks First try n this would not be our last visit Pork free,free parking in front of the stall,good service,reasonable price, satisfaction fulfilled,acceptable waiting time Recommended

I only know about this restaurant from my husband who grew up in Alor Setar and used to eat here with his family before they moved. Then when they moved, he tried to find it for 15 years!

Finally found it when we asked a friend who grew up in SP (she didn't know) who asked her father. We were glad to finally find this place! Definitely a well-kept secret by old-timers.

So basically, we had the dish my husband has been raving about: the Assam prawns - large prawns cooked in sticky Assam sauce - and they were awesome. Husband says it's exactly as he remembered.

Other dishes we tried: sotong goreng tepung, mixed veges, ikan goreng halia and soft tofu. I truly enjoyed the taste of the food. Definitely recommended as probably the best muslim-friendly...

Place is where one can have cooked dishes and rice or even noodles. The place does not serve pork. It is an open air restaurant but is covered by Billion supermarket roofing. The restaurant is usually busy during lunch and dinner time. A single cook an assistant and a waitress are manning the outlet. It is considered a family business. There is no physical menu but one can order mostly any cuisine except for pork dishes. There are no clay pot dishes either. Anyway, prices are affordable and the...
