My girlfriends and I were looking forward to celebrating an early Chinese New Year loh sang at this restaurant. While the food itself was commendable, the service fell well below expectations, leaving us deeply disappointed.
The first letdown came from the young man who took our order. He was unable to provide proper menu recommendations, which set the tone for a frustrating dining experience. We were especially excited about the "3 Combination Platter Surprise" listed on the menu with no description. Unfortunately, the "surprise" turned out to be a negative one—two of the items in the platter were nearly identical to dishes order ala carte we ordered.
When we pointed out this oversight, the staff’s response was dismissive, blaming the kitchen for the choice of combinations. This lack of ownership and poor communication between the front and back of house was unacceptable. Though they offered to replace the platter, they couldn’t confirm what the new combination would be, forcing us to cancel it altogether. What should have been an enjoyable highlight of our meal instead became a source of frustration, souring the festive mood.
Adding to the disappointment was the loh sang experience. Be prepared to perform all the customary sayings and gestures yourself. The staff, largely foreign workers, didn’t participate, and the local staff seemed too busy to uphold these cultural practices. For a restaurant catering to a predominantly local crowd during CNY, this lack of effort was surprising and disheartening.
In summary, while the food was good, the subpar service and lack of cultural attentiveness left us disappointed. For a service-oriented industry, this restaurant failed to deliver on the most basic expectations of hospitality. If they are not prepared to provide proper service, they might want to reconsider...
Read moreWent a couple of days ago for their dim sum promotion.
Initially when entered, the place looked good and seemed like typical Chinese ballroom style restaurant and one would expect decent services. However, service was incredibly poor, subpar at best.
After seated, the staff did not offer any menu until we have to ask for it 5mins later. The staff brought us normal menu when they have the dim sum promotion, it’s like they’re not welcoming you to enjoy the promotion. We had to ask another staff again specifically for the dim sum menu.
The waiter that served tea only filled some of the guests’ teacups while leaving others empty until they had to request for tea in their cups.
When they started serving, they didn’t bother to alert guests that they’re holding hot food and just started dishing out the orders.
Once there are used plates gathered in between guests, the waiter only cleared a part of the table and ignored the others. Even when the waiter came to refill the teacups, they ignored to clear out the used plates.
Towards the end of the meal, when the table was cleared, it’s like the waiter vanished immediately and did not return to ask if we would like to refill our teapot and didn’t bother to inform us where did they place our teapot (on the side table mixed with teapots from other tables).
Mind you, that time itself, the restaurant was only half empty with plenty of waiters lingering around other tables or on the side.
Definitely do not recommend anyone coming and will not visit another time. Bad experience from beginning to the end...
Read moreThe food and environment for wedding banquet is overall nice but totally disappointed with their staff's attitude.
This is the first time ever I met guests have to change their own dirty dishes, refill own drinks while the staffs just pretending dunno and walked away standing quite far, chatting with his other friends!
At first, we requested to change to a clean dishes after the fish section, then the second time after prawn section, the staff just pretending dunno and walked away! There's a small cabinet located just a few step away from us, filling with plenty of clean white dishes, but he don't even wanna switched it and pretending don't know.
Please lah, give all the part-timers (obviously still study secondary) a strict proper training or at least basic work ethics, or hire somebody with better attitude. The staff is super rude as he threw the spoon at the cuisine with a loud 'bang' sound where we just simply request a sharing spoon for the dessert! He said there's no spoon for the lotus pancake and even has the audacity to tell us use your own spoon. But after we still requesting for 1 sharing spoon, he started give us the rude sour face and even threw the spoon created a loud 'bang' sound, everyone just stared at him. Few times, our drinks have finished but the staff just standing there daydreaming and don't even bother until we have to walk in front to him and request for refill. After few times, we fed up and...
