Be Real Cafe — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Very stylish, well lit and clean interior upstairs in a mostly residential area not far from plaza arkadia area really. There's a range of good quality comfortable seating and you can tell that the owner/owners have really thought about the appearance of the place and the comfort of their customers.

There's quite a strong concept of natural organic ingredients running through this place and there's a range of natural products and food/drink to purchase here too if you wanted. I like this as it shows that this place's concept is obviously something the owners are passionate about and that does come across here.

To be fair as it was a quick visit after going to JPJ I didn't really have enough food and drink to judge it adequately on this front. However, my flat white had a good flavour but was served not as warm as it should've been unfortunately imo anyway - though still not too detrimental.

The chocolate cookie I had was again good flavour but for my taste too dry. Often in Malaysia cookies do seem less chewy than in Europe or North America but I think it was perhaps a little overbaked. To some extent this is personal opinion of course. Service was fairly friendly though could've been better but certainly efficient - place was quite busy even on a weekday which was nice to see. Price as expected for the setting and concept - no complaints their cookie was only 4rm actually.

Anyway would definitely return hopefully and take my wife and try the main meals and adjust stars depending on how it was obviously. Certainly an enjoyable place to sit and relax for awhile anyway. Parking is pretty mad but I did find somewhere on a side street...

TAUCHEO MACKEREL FISH RICE BOWL - served with organic stirfry green vegetables, spring onion kampong egg omellete and low GI organic basmathi rice. Sg besar wild caught mackerel fish was fresh, rice was fluffy and soft & artisanal taucheo paste soy sauce with bentong ginger elevated the whole meal! Even home cooked meals wouldn’t be up to this standard 😱❤️

GRILLED PUMPKIN CHICKEN SANDWICH - fresh baked biodynamic pumpkin, grilled chicken breast meat, bereal riccota cheese, fresh organic lettuce sandwiched between their own sourdough butter soft loaf bread, toast to perfection with french butter. The most COMFORTING sandwich ever (the kind that your grandma makes for you and leaves u wanting for more because it’s so darn good 😩🥪)

one star for the food, or rather the service. The drinks are decent, food tasted mild.

We ordered one beef burger and one chicken sandwiches. We requested for sauces ie. ketchup / chilli / any other sauces available to apply on the beef burger / chicken sandwiches as the taste are mild and the chicken patty is very hard and dry. We were informed there is no ketchup / chilli sauce / any other sauces available. My sandwiches was seasoned with some kind of white sauce, so I requested for more of the same kind since the chicken patty was really hard to bite and dry and there was no other sauces available without charge. I was further informed that they do charge another “2 or 3 bucks” (the staff couldn’t be sure of the exact amount) for extra sauces too even if it’s the same kind of sauces as the one I was having. The only seasoning they don’t charge is soy sauce.

At the end we managed to finish our chicken sandwiches with soy sauce. What a fun combination.
