Lake Village Restaurant, located at Jalan Ayer Panas, is a Chinese restaurant that offers an authentic Chinese cuisine experience with a focus on traditional aspects such as color, scent, and taste. If you're looking for a place that truly captures the essence of Chinese food by showcasing its appearance, nutritional value, and flavors, this restaurant is worth a visit.

One notable feature of Lake Village Restaurant is its extensive menu, boasting over 100 dishes ranging from meat and vegetables to soups. The dishes here are characterized by a subtle taste, as the restaurant allows the natural sweetness and flavors of the ingredients to shine, rather than relying on excessive seasoning. This approach ensures that the distinct tastes of the food are brought out, offering a genuine Chinese culinary experience.

When it comes to pricing, Lake Village Restaurant offers three different portion sizes at reasonable prices. Despite the global inflation affecting ingredient costs, the restaurant has managed to maintain down-to-earth prices, making it accessible to a wide range of diners.

The popularity of Lake Village Restaurant is evident from the long queues that form even before it opens at 6 pm. To avoid the crowds, it is advisable to visit during lunchtime when there are fewer people. However, it's worth noting that the restaurant may assign junior chefs or chefs under probation during lunch hours. This was evident during my visit, as the vegetables served were overcooked. It's a minor drawback, but it may affect the overall dining experience for some customers.

In terms of ambiance, Lake Village Restaurant embraces a traditional Chinese Peranakan decor, immersing diners in a cultural setting. However, the restaurant's low ceiling and lack of air conditioning contribute to a hot and stuffy environment, particularly during lunch and dinner hours when the crowds are at their peak. This can be uncomfortable and may not be ideal for special occasions or hosting guests.

Overall, Lake Village Restaurant has all the right ingredients for a five-star rating. The wide selection of food and the emphasis on simplicity in taste make it a great choice for those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine. However, due to the hot and humid environment, which detracts from the overall dining experience, I would rate it four out of five stars. While it may not be the best choice for special occasions or hosting guests, it remains a go-to place for delicious Chinese food that showcases the essence of...

I went for dinner on a Sunday evening and as recommended I arrived before 6pm. There was no queue when I arrived but there were more than 10 tables that were occupied. By the time we finished our meal after 6:30pm there was a long queue at the entrance waiting to be seated.

Generally, the food was less salty and less oily as per other reviews. However, based on our personal preference, some were somewhat bland, e.g. the 3 Mushroom Tofu.

The Belacan Kangkung was salty enough and quite spicy. The fries that came with the Fried Chicken Wings were quite salty as well. The sauce of the Ku Lou Pork was okay but not entirely suited to our taste.

However, it must be said that the deep frying skills at the restaurant were superb. Both the Fried Chicken Wings and Ku Lou Pork were crispy on the outside and juicy and well cooked on the inside. Both were not oily at all.

The portions were generous. All the dishes pictured were small except for the tofu which was medium size.

Total bill came up to RM95.40 with 3 small rice and we brought our own tea leaves.

As it was a rainy and cloudy day, it wasn't hot in the restaurant. They had air coolers inside to help circulate the air so it wasn't stuffy at all.

Service was pretty quick and the dishes came out quickly as well. It is recommended that you have a look through the menu before arriving there as they would immediately take your order as you sit down. You might need to wait a while if you pass up the opportunity to order immediately.

It's worth a try if you are in the area at the right timing but I wouldn't drive all the way just to...

Dined with my family. It was a fantastic experience from the start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect setting for a good meal.

So i ordered ✅ Bean Curd with Shallot Oil, simple yet flavourful mmmmm yumzz . ✅Lo Hon Vegetarian, a beautifully balanced dish with fresh, well-seasoned vegetables, making it both healthy and delicious, and ✅Steamed Spare Ribs in Nam Yee Sauce that comes with a side of Mantou's (steamed bun), the best for sure!

Not only was the food excellent, but the service was truly astonishing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and quick to serve, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Overall, Lake Village Restaurant has exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, cozy ambiance, and top-notch service. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal! Will definitely come...

They claim to be in this Restaurant business for past 12 years, the restaurant itself looks like an old residence that was recently renovated to become a restaurant. Very basic and minimal furniture and deco, but it does give that rustic and old school feeling. Food wise there seems to be many options but the young hosts and servers did not have enough knowledge and customer service skills to handle a large crowd. The restaurant opens at 530pm, the crowd starts to queue at that time with very limited parking. The worse part about this place is that they have poor ventilation, very stuffy and everyone was sweating while eating. So maybe that is a part of the experience or the owners just could not be bothered about customer’s comfort? Food price was reasonable but the taste was just so so. Could give it a 2nd try.
