This was an intro by my bro in law after his son tapau some chicken for us to try. Turned out rather well as a chicken dish. Took us awhile to locate the exact place. Found it we'd thru G Map though. It has none of the fancy eatery shop you imagine. Infact it's part of a new village house. They didnt have a big sign outside but once you're in there, you can find the restaurant's name. Reason being, they do not really needed one, they have been on existent for a few decades at the same location. They're opened from 11 to 3 afternoon. Their signature dish was the kampong chicken in ginger sauce ( the lady owner told us, they'd use only kampong chicken weighting at about 1,5 kilo.) according to her, it's at its most tender weight. Anything heavier will be " tough" They were other dishes available on their simple menu but we decided to try out their salt baked chicken thigh and an omelette. We'd asked f I r any soup at hand, since it was a very hot say. Noted in their menu they've braised pork leg, not the black vinegar kind. Of course they also have veggies but we didn't I ordered them Our only purpose there was to tapau their kampong chicken. Had a short chat with the chef that id preferred it be cooked in Bentong ginger. He replied theirs do not use such classy ginger but china's old ginger. He obliged us that next time we can bring such ginger and he'll use it! What an entertaining chef. He gleefully acknowledge bentong ginger would taste better but deeply affects his price! Understandably we left it unreplied. He then had a whole chicken prepared for us to take away in no time. Since it was such a hot day, we consumed lots of chines tea, the last count was 3 pots refilled. The eatery was typically old house renovated to do outdoor cooking as an eatery mainly for locals working nearby. The chef was the 2nd gen. Oddly enough we catch glimpse of several walk in customers ordering this very same chicken dish at 3 noon as take away! It tells me that if you're good at a particular dish, people will order it! We duely paid and left the premise knowing we'll be back again. It wasn't expensive as we tasted real kampong chicken which was not necessarily so at other restaurants. By that I meant, you'd asked for or was told what type of chichen they will be using and it cones to Yr table, it is the normal white chicken. We had been let down many times and therefore we're mindful to ask properly before ordering. We had no regrets with our tapau and if anyone wishes to try, by all means, I personally recommend it but it's tough to get to without waze or G Nap. A happy to bring to those staying in PJ that there're now a 2n gen outlet at PJ close by Pj's digital mall, section 14, same roll down along the mall's main entrance. Offering the same menu as their father's eatery. Operated by their sons. Was disappointed the 1st time there as all offerings were sold out by 7.30 as we managed to theur door step at around half 8. So it is advisable to be there well be4 dinner or face disappointment as we did one...
Read moreRead the recommendations on FB. It's a simple setup in the residential area (Google map will bring you straight to the place, and you won't get lost anyway).
The restaurant is famous with its salty chicken, which is satisfying. We ordered a drumstick and chicken feet and a stir fried potato leaves. The bill is settled at RM40 for 3paxs.
The chicken is wrapped with foil and covered in the hot salt till it is cook. That reminds me of how my mum prepared it the same way. The modern days many ppl just marinated the chicken with...
Read moreI had a late lunch there to avoid waiting for a table. I get there at almost 3 pm. No problem to get a table but order for whole chicken completely sold out. I ordered chicken legs still need 40 minutes wait. Owner lady and waitress are friendly. Place is acceptable clean. Parking is problematic as it is a residential area. So expect a bit walking after your park. Food is good, tasty and salty as expected. I wish they cook a bit less time, that the meat should be more juicy. I'd recommended if you are a chicken...
