The first time I found out about this place was from a magazine. It was a dish of fried baby squids (my favourite dish) that caught my attention. The discovery of this place has open up a whole new meaning of "good food" and there is still hope for finding good food in Klang Valley.
Despite it being located far from me and I had to brave the traffics getting here during weekdays after work, I'd still find time to plan for a visit. There are just too many wonderful dishes to try here.
Firstly, as the name suggest, the grilled fish. One has never truly had grilled fish, if one has not had one here. Next would be my favourite fried baby squids. This item is quite rare in Klang Valley, so it's a gem. By far the best fried baby squids in Klang Valley I've tasted. Rat tail noodles were awesome, both stir fried and rainbow style. No worry, no rats were harm in the process of making one.
Crabs were awesome too, but they are seasonal. Asked for "ah kua" crabs if you love the roe. Grilled lamb was good as well, but it was costly for the size served. The only let down here would be to order green vegetables. Which is perhaps the weakest trait...
Read moreI have been patronizing loong grilled fish for over a decade. Without fail, there are a few new dishes appear in the menu in every return.
Tucked away in an unassuming row of stalls, Loong Grilled Fish surprises with dishes that rival—and sometimes surpass—those from high-end restaurants. While their signature grilled crab and fish draw a steady crowd, it’s the supporting dishes that truly impress. The peppery Xiong Tong Lala stands out with its bold broth, warming and addictive, packed with generous portions of fresh clams. The deep-fried pork belly is another winner—crispy on the outside, juicy within, and perfectly seasoned. For noodle lovers, the tiny lala fried mee hoon delivers a satisfying umami punch, with just the right hint of wok hei. But don’t miss the braised pork trotter, meltingly tender with rich, gelatinous layers that pair beautifully with rice. Plating is unexpectedly elegant for a hawker-style setting, making every dish not just a meal but an experience. Loong Grilled Fish is a gem—humble in appearance,...
Read moreIn my humble opinion, the restaurant ‘s main focus is to serve yummy food and therefore, might be lacking in good food presentation. Having said that, i think tastewise, the food served here is above average Tried: Steamed frogs in chicken essence - literally, steamed frogs with chicken essence pour over them in front of us. Simple and basic, there was no garnishings of coriander and spring onions and fried garlic bits. The frogs were fresh though. Not bad Stir fried brussel sprout shoots ( choy tam) in sweet salty garlicky sauce. The vegetables were cooked im a claypot with lots of sliced garlic and i think this is the best stir fried vegetables i have ever eaten. The leaves soaked up all the fragrant sauces . The whole dish itself was very addictive. A bit salty though. Egg fooyong- the omelette was folded into half which didn’t present itself well on the plate. Tastewise , it was pretty ordinary, just like any other egg foo yong you’ll get elsewhere 4 Parking was difficult on a...
