Finally tried it yesterday (12/3), was not crowded so i was first in line. My large plate came with 3 very decent sized prawns! This was a pleasant surprise, oh and they were very fresh! The koay teow & noodles were a tad too wet for my liking ( its just a matter of personal preference). It was however tasty but only had a hint of wok hei. Just enough for me not to complain i guess. Oh....they did add the glorious pork lard bits BUT.... these were soggy and not one bit crunchy at all. Could have been an off day.
Maybe.... just maybe, the chef needs to warm up a bit from her long break.
Anyway i may try them again but for the time being the old couple at the nearby You Winner has my votes.
‐---‐-------------‐------------------‐---------------------- Went back again today (25/2/25). I look a bit desparate, right?
Guess what CKT still closed.
Fortunately someone informed me that the owner has gone for a holiday. YES I am all for our hardworking hawkers who mostly work a 6/7 day week to have some chill time. BUT customers would truly appreciate if the owner left a note on the stall as to the dates he wont be open for business.... just saying.
Came here on Thursday (20/2/25), wanting to try the well reviewed Char Koay Teow (CKT) but the whole Restaurant was closed. Tried again today (21/2/25), Restaurant open but CKT still closed. I looked around to find many were having the "Lam Mee". I am more inclined to refer to this as Lor Mee due to the starchiness of the heavy gravy and the option to add black vinegar. The gravy arrived a bit bland so i had to add the vinegar. Took the dish up a notch but this is a very polarising dish. Many a Hokkien person would likely love it but others may find this much too stodgy and difficult to palate. This reminded me that i am of the latter group. BTW the serving was sizable and worth the RM8.50! From the enthusiasm and zeal of my neighbouring table, this stall does have its fans. Just not my cup of tea OR bowl of starch :) BTW, this group just had a bird dump a huge mess on their table, fotunately missing all their bowls of Lam Mee.... or did it not? Anyway they really...
Read moreOnly thing decently good is their mushroom chicken chop (not too consistent on food taste as I've had a few rounds of it and all came somewhere between good to just average). Highlights include the dimsum and curry mee (not too creamy but some like it that way). Service from the foreign worker women was bad and hygiene is abysmal. For instance, get greeted by RATS running around under your table. Dirty tables and chairs and no social distancing during MCO with most people not bothered to register or take temperatures as owner from the shop doesn't care...
Read moreCoffee stall with some nice options. The Char Kway Teow is flavoursome and has wok hei but on the wetter side, the fish ball noodle soup is clean but tasty and the fish balls are bouncy. The char siu bao is soft and fluffy and has just the right amount of bun/filling. The drinks can be improved on. The teh C and hot barley was...
