Food: 4/5 Ambience : 3.5/5 Service: 2/5
Went on 27th Aug evening. Was pretty excited when I saw the table setting as it was a proper fine dining set up. I thought the service would also stand out, especially the menu items are priced quite highly. However, the service was really living up to the restaurant's concept of being a CASUAL-fine dining restaurant.
There were two male servers on sight, one was decent, another guy who was wearing spectacles - his body language was unexceptionally rude. When he approached my table, he didn't talk nor answer to my requests, he nodded and walked away. When he had to answer my questions, his tone of answering was very unpleasant. When he was removing the emptied plates, my family members were talking and laughing, he was judging them and stared at my father. I am not sure if he noticed, but I was looking at him the whole time when he was doing that.
I am one who care a lot about service, especially when I am dining at such restaurant. I am okay if there are careless mistakes or whatnots, but rude behaviour is by choice which made my whole dining experience really bad.
I also ordered an extra bread basket. We were told it is chargeable but what we were not told is that it only comes in four while we were a family of five. When the bread and butter were served, there was no explanation or whatsoever, I thought they missed out one serving of butter which then I was told it only comes in 4???? So now we have to decide who is the unlucky one who is not getting the extra bread.
Not gonna lie, the food was really good. Starters: Capellini was on sweeter note; Escargot was normal. Mains: Red Snapper was fresh but serving was pretty small; Pork Ribs were good if you like Char Siew taste; O'Connor and Stanbroke Wagyu were grilled nicely, smokey and juicy. Sides: Spinach is a good add-on if you want something that taste different; Fries was sooo crispy. Love it. Desserts: Sticky Date Pudding taste better than I expected, it felt like brownies somehow; Yuzu Tart was a good end, refreshing and light
Despite the good food, I will not come back because of the service. If you don't mind the service at all, it will be a good place for birthday, valentine or anniversary...
Read moreCelebrate friend's birthday here she said is too disappointing as the food wasn't as good as what review mentioned.
Do bear in mind their food portion is rather small and that's why you have to order more.
Lunch time they don't served any complimentary bread too only dinner
Therefore, we celebrate her sad birthday with the order of these:-
🍝 Cold Capellini Pasta the omly tasty food in this place and we ended up ordered 2 plates for 6 pax to share. punched w yuzu taste which also took away the fishy smell of fish roe and raw prawn.
🥪 Truffle Bikini Sandwich small slices but the cheese covers up the truffle taste. Meh...
🍝Truffled Tagliatelle Pasta good
🐖Spanish Kberico Pork Ribs (500gm) lots of bones and less meat I think the bones end up taking more than 60% of the gramage
🥩 Black Label Ribeye ordered medium but comes with medium well and that's why we spent so long just for chewing taste is just okay given I always hunt for good steak but this is not one of them
🥬Creamed Spinach for such a price tag, the portion of the side dish is petty then I wanna cry taste is good
🍚Donabe Rice (4Pax) again the portion is so small w such a high price it is like you go out to hawker shop and call for Claypot chicken, portion just for one for hawker shop and is served portion for 4 at this place. Sad.... Real sad taste is good despite is just lard for such price.
🐷Iberico Pork Collar good blend of thin and marbling but then again for some people they felt like why do they pay close to 90 bucks just for fats? I would suggest 30% - 40% fats that is acceptable but sadly it is like 80% fats my 2 poor friends spit out the pork collar due to the fats again this portion also so small
🥔 Truffled Mashed Potato OK
🍟Tripled Cooked Chips bad just real bad w no truffle smell o taste and sooo dry that doesn't bring out the crisp
We paid for RM800 for these meal, you can judge yourself if you would like to in terms of flavour, portion, etc. But that's my verdict, I wouldn't come back...
Read moreTLDR; this restaurant is a hit and miss for us - but what it’s known for i.e. the meat, it was very well done and satisfied our cravings for some good ‘ol steak ————
First impression as I entered, loved the casual setting, yet there’s still the element of intimacy; making it perfect for either a group gathering and date nights. My partner and I really enjoyed the ambience, albeit seated next to a pretty large and rowdy group 😁
We started off with starters: escargots and Hokkaido scallops - when the order arrived, I thought that both were mediocre at best (and at the time slightly already made me up my mind of the restaurant). The escargots were cooked perfectly, but really a miss on the flavour, and also were very salty. Scallops were also minuscule in size and in flavour - the truffle vinaigrette with the crème fraiche was an underwhelming mix
At this point, both of us were slightly disappointed; but then, came the mains (and the saviour!) which both of us ordered the Wagyu Tri Tip. Both of our plates were cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned (they also offered a selection of salt on the side). Tender in the middle and just the right crisp on the sides. The mushroom slices were also great!
We also ordered 2 sides, the truffle mash and the creamed spinach - both of which to my opinion, were nothing to shout about. The creamed spinach was watery, with a diluted taste.
To finish off the night, we ordered the chocolate fondante (because I mean, it’s one that’s hard to not like) - and that was money! So delicious! The fondante was baked just right, combined with the tarte raspberry gel, full hazelnuts( or some nuts at least) and pistachio ice cream - just a match made in sugary heaven. It was essentially gone in seconds!
All in all, the restaurant did really well in some of the dishes we had, and quite a miss in some. Will def consider coming back for some good steak (and to satisfy our...
