Second time going to VS and the experience only gets worse. I brought my parents and boyfriend out for lunch and to start, the cutlery was dusty with remnants of food stuck on it. I approached the waiter to ask about the pricing of the whole cakes as I forgot to buy one and was rudely gestured to approach another waiter as he was busy.
The waiter waiting on our table seems to hate this job and his life. Everytime he came by our table, it was with a sour face and he made it seem like we were an inconvenience. I also explicitly asked them to bring out the cake after I ask for the cheque yet they brought it out before our last entree was served, completely ruining the surprise.
As for the food, all I can say is that the garlic butter sauce is the only thing that saved this whole experience. We ordered escargot, shrimp cocktail, garlic bread, oxtail soup, the lamb platter, surf and turf plus a burnt cheesecake.
The shrimp cocktail, despite its price, came with only 4 pieces of shrimp. The salad was drowning in thousand islands sauce. The escargot was great, mainly because of the sauce but the utensils to pick out the meat were not very clean.
The garlic bread was good along with the oxtail soup. The bun they give as starters with cheap margarine is meh. The lamb platter and surf and turf was utterly disappointing. Each item cost above RM70 and as platters, they come with only one portion of meat, some veges and some potatoes. There were literally only 3 pieces of small meat for the lamb platter and for the surf and turf, the lobster was cut in half and covered in cheese. The actual lobster were tiny morsels. The cheesecake was alright.
The bill came to under RM450 and it really wasn't worth it. The waiters were terrible and all looked like they were working only because they were being held at gunpoint. One waiter even threw down a replacement clean plate at my father and when confronted, he apologised. Terrible service overall, don't think I'll be coming back here anytime soon.
P.S. To give credit where credit is due, our waiter did sing happy birthday very, very enthusiastically. It served as good...
Read moreI made a reservation about 90 minutes before I showed up; spoke to a Ms Vivian- she spoke clearly and exuded professionalism over the phone (it was a mobile number that was listed that I called) . Don't you hate it when staff hesitate to give you their name when you're making a reservation? None of that with Ms Vivian.. So off to a great start!
I brought the Missus and my 2 kids here for a birthday do on a Sunday night. The place was a bit quiet; could be the timing, or the current surge in Covid-19 cases in Klang Valley showing its effect. We were 15 minutes early, but they were expecting us, and seemed happy to accommodate us in spite of our turning up earlier than scheduled. We were attended to mostly by an enthusiastic fellow by the name of ?Emma-ran (I'm sure I'm spelling it incorrectly here- apologies, Sir!). He seemed pretty senior, and was well-versed with the items on the menu. He and another 3-4 colleagues were very attentive, and anticipated most of our needs (handing of serviettes unprompted, bowl of lemon-tea water to wash soiled fingers, prompt attending-to whenever one of us put our hands up for their attention..). Mr Emma-ran made some spot-on suggestions when it came to ordering our food. Suffice to say, my steak would've turned out not nearly as nice if not for his suggestion (his advice was on the level of done-ness, tailored according to the cut we ordered). We were also treated to an on-the-house rendition of Happy Birthday by Mr Emma-ran (almost opera-level in its delivery- nice, enthusiastic touch!)to accompany the (complimentary) cute birthday cake slice , and a loaf of premium bread to bring home. This place holds a lot of memories; it was one of the earliest steakhouses to operate in the Klang Valley (together with The Ship Pertama, Victoria Station Jalan Ampang, Coliseum Jln TAR)- good to see that they still provide a decent dining experience. Price was fair- most of the steaks were RM60-RM100+. Portions were generous. My family and I look forward to coming again on another...

Entrance was uninviting, and no one to greet you. We were 1 of 3 tables on a Friday night. There was an old lady, seems like the owner or the owner's mum. Halfway during dinner, she started swinging her arms and did not help the atmosphere.
The food was flavorful, clam but the portion..I know they can do better. Clam chowder had 1 clam in it. The surf and turf lobster looked like a Tiger prawn which identified as a lobster. Bomb alaska was big enough for 2.
The only saving grace for this place was the service. However, i have some critiques. The waiters were dressed well but had different footwear, 1 even wore. They were obviously bored due to the lack of patrons, they took care of us very well. My waiter gave suggestions, offered to take pictures and made sure we had everything we needed. He even sang Happy Birthday by himself with an awkward, long 15 sec, "Happy birthday tooooooooooooooo you". Don't get me wrong, I admired the enthusiasm, but it felt more of showing off his singing prowess.. again it was good but awkward.
Overall, the service made the experience special, but the downsized portions isn't worth the price tag for me. Won't be coming back...
