Came here on a Friday night for dinner with my family. Expect steep prices for small portions and no table if you don't have a proper reservation and don't come early. For my family, we came around 7pm, they didn't let us sit inside due to no reservations so we sat outside. I sat near the entrance so the wind flow was not great and I started to sweat a little even with the fan above behind my head.
We wanted fake parmigiana and limoncello tiramisu but they didn't have any so keep in mind what you see online is what you wont get. I think the waiter mentioned something like if you want it you need to make reservations and tell them, how troublesome.
The waiter who served us seemed to be a manager of some sort and I could sense some arrogance in him which was unpleasant- we pointed at a bruschetta we wanted on the menu and he gave us a 60 second lecture on all the bruschettas they had before finally writing down the order. We asked for a bread basket and he immediately told us if we wanted a second time we had to pay. Informative? ok I guess but tone of voice could be fixed.
The free bread basket was just 2.5 slices of bread cut in 3 pieces btw. Portions were small, taste was not bad at all but very minimal ingredients, barely any meat and pasta is al dente. But to me I found that it could be much softer. I'd recommend the carbonara rigatoni but not the aglio olio, the pasta was thick like cheap store bought spaghetti noodles. Just oil chilli and garlic no meat no nothing for rm29 (i forgot the price but either rm29 or rm30+)
Pizza was not bad but nothing mind blowing. The waiter who brought the pizza asked if we wanted chili flakes or chili oil- we said yes and I think he forgot. The owner (a white guy) came over to ask if we wanted any and we said yes then only the condiments came. Tiramisu is a huge laughing stock- dont get me wrong it tastes great but you get a laughably small portion for rm25 to share with 4 people and for the version with alcohol, the price is much steeper.
Bill was RM255 for one starter (some eggplant cheese ham bruschetta thats good but its RM32 for 3 pieces so you be the judge), 4 mains (2 pasta 2 pizza) and one dessert. Bonus points for kitty. Maybe good for one time try if you're curious but I'll...
Read moreMenu: You need to clarify with the server what certain terms mean, ESPECIALLY in relation to the price. I'll share my experience on why I say so. Noise level: 3/5 Ambience: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Lighting: Dim and romantic Service: 4/5
Disclaimer: So I've read reviews on this place. Seems like authentic Italian restaurants are scarce in KL and this is a place that people like.
However, I have a bone to pick with how information is relayed.
Look at the pics I've included: menu & pizza, notice the price of "Via Del Pre Kul" - RM51 description says "Tuna belly, capers, olives..." Looking at this, we thought that it would be fresh frozen tuna belly like either fillet or some other kind of tuna belly ya know? Not canned tuna!! I mean, look at the price of this pizza compared to the other pizzas. However, it came in tuna chunks - canned tuna no less.
I WAS PEEVED. Plainly put, I think the menu is misleading especially for someone who loves tuna. I LOVE tuna more than salmon lol.
I have to give it to the server though, we asked 2 servers - 1 of them NEVER came back to me, the other server answered without hesitation when I queried why the menu said tuna belly and it came as canned tuna.
Thanks to the manager, Mr Maury, who clarified that the tuna belly was canned tuna belly. He even brought the can out for us to see. Bless his soul.
TLDR: I think the server should tell customers that the tuna belly is canned tuna belly for "Via Del Pre Kul" - RM51, before they confirm their order. I don't expect the management to revamp the menu because of this...
Read moreFood was OK, good atmosphere. But the service was horrid. Dined here Saturday 16th of Sep 23.
This is what happened - we were a group of 7, and we ordered 3 pizzas, a few pastas and a bunch of starters + wine for the table.
When the first pizza came, a few of the guests started eating and after a few bites, I realised it wasn’t the pizza we ordered.
I promptly alerted the waiter who came and acknowledged it wasn’t the pizza we ordered, but said ‘but you’ve already eaten it’ , to which we replied ‘we had no idea until we ate it’.
There was some back and forth here until he finally took the pizza off our table rather rudely, made a face, and proceeded to literally throw the pizza on another empty table nearby rather aggressively.
This completely ruined our dining experience, we felt like we didn’t belong there and unwelcome. He didn’t serve us anymore that night, and we weren’t charged for the pizza.
I felt that regardless of who’s right or wrong, there could have been better methods to handle the situation than to be aggressive.
I won’t be returning to this...
