If I could turn back time, I’d walk right past this place. . What we ordered: Stir-Fry Siakap Fillet with Ginger & Onion – RM33 Big plate. Tiny portion. Salt overload. . Tofu with Pickled Carrot – RM16 Simple dish, badly done. Pickled carrot tasted unwashed. Salt bomb. . Stir-Fry Brinjal with Garlic Sauce – RM18 Dark as burnt. Drowned in sauce. Over-seasoned. Photo here? Brightened so it looks better than it was. . Oyster Omelette – RM18 The only dish that didn’t disappoint. . Service? Excellent. Staff kept our tea topped up without asking. . Feedback given? Yes. Reply: “Tell us less salt next time.” . Problem: it wasn’t just “salty.” It was almost inedible. We came for food, not a sodium challenge. . Do they taste their own dishes? Or have glowing reviews made them complacent? Some may love it. Maybe we’re the picky ones. But most won’t complain—they’ll just never return. . A shiny renovation can’t hide poor cooking or lack of quality control. . Return? Only if every other restaurant was closed. Recommend? No. They already have enough fans. . . Follow for more unfiltered, real food reviews. JSE@20250801 . Birthday dinner at the famous Hui’s Brother Restaurant. 8–9 dishes for 9 people, RM339. Solid value. . What we had: Pork lard rice Stir-fried cabbage Oyster omelette Iced pork Stir-fried chicken strips Curry fish Tofu with pickled carrot Dessert . Flavours were on point. Nothing too salty. . They even surprised our birthday girls with a special treat—made the night extra sweet for everyone. . Will we be back? Yes. Recommend to friends? Absolutely. A true gem in Cheng. . . Follow for more local food finds worth your time. 🍽️✨ JSE@20241213 . I recently treated a friend to dinner at Hui's Brother, introducing her to their refreshing chilled sweet and sour pork. , We kept the spread simple with brinjal and their signature pork, but the generous portions made the sweetness a bit overpowering for our small party. , Attentive service stood out — our waiter kept our tea cups full without prompting, and complimentary nuts before the mains added a warm touch. , Overall, despite the occasional sweetness overload, Hui's Brother impressed with flavorful dishes and impeccable...

I was surprise for this restaurant, wanna tried many times but I was in rush always when I was in melaka, finally got chance to tried their food ,food was actually delicious, can see chef put a lot of effort for every single dish presentation ,I just wanna feedback front line have to train well ,I always believe leader is how ? Staff will be the same attitude 🤭,pls don’t expect every single dish customer should understand, because when you all serve the food doesn’t explain and leave the food and left ,of cause can understand during busy times,I was first time been here to support is because the chef Kenny ,I know him when he small, very happy he was open a nice restaurant with quality food In melaka 👍well done Kenny 👏,when order food I didn’t see menu, just asked for recommendation dish and proceed ,and one of ladies try to push 口水鸡show the picture I was agree said sure just order ,when food arrived all my parent been asking 口水鸡for burnt smell, check with one foreign worker issit like this ? But he like stand there smile, then I take one piece ask him send to chef to tried? Because he can’t answer me I was no sure too, because only chicken skin got the smell meat was tender ,after few minute I think is “so called ladies boss come to my table ask chicken what problem???🤣question like I got problem and give me one kind of face like I don’t know how to eat ,I was very nice tell her issit to E chicken got the taste like this ?? Because previous staff never explain when I trying to ask ,he was no sure ,she said is smoke smell, the chicken is like that no the chicken has problem,I didn’t said chicken got problem, and she said that’s why name called smoke chicken ,o didn’t see menu order is order thru phone pic that the ladies serve me and said is 口水鸡,got a nice delicious food must come with better services don’t need 5 star service simple was okay pls don’t rude😊,because my table is 1amd half hour wait I didn’t complaint too,I’m patient enough too just feel weird why treat customer like this way 😊,lucky food was delicious,I’m wait one and half hour with half hour finish everything, when I’m leaving only left 2 table my 4 star is for...

When I first stepped into this restaurant, I was amazed by its settings because it’s hard to find a lot of good looking restaurants in Melaka. When we sat down, the waitress immediately served us with some peanuts (charged ofc)

The menu has many dishes, prices were similar to Kuala Lumpur. Most of the dishes were around RM20-30.

However, it took a long time for them to serve the food. But everything was fine, until a man waiter suddenly took my family’s plates and bowls with tissue away when we didn’t request them to do so. Not using the dishes doesn’t means we aren’t using it later… Really felt speechless on their action.

On the food, the portion is moderate for a family. (A lot of flies came) The drinks that I ordered was the passion fruit and ai yu bing. Both were super sour which is really nice. The cabbage dish was filled with dried chili and pork lard, it made the cabbage oily and smelly too. But for those who likes it, it’s worth trying because cabbage:dried chili:pork lard = 2:1:2. The curry fish doesn’t have curry flavor haha 🫠 The best dish for today is probably the 铁板豆腐. The tofu and the egg is well cooked, just normal. After that, the otak otak chicken wing. It’s definitely overpriced! RM9 for one chicken wing, and the taste didn’t amaze me. Last but not least, sweet and sour pork on ice was crispy at first but really awful after a few more minutes. A little recommendation is to prepare a bowl for customers to put the ice.

Back to the services. When we were eating until half, a waitress suddenly took the ice pork’s spoon and started scooping the longan into our plates and took the bowl away!!! ⁉️⁉️ This action is really rude because we don’t like longan…

And one last thing about their toilet. The lock doesn’t work. When I was inside, I double checked that it was locked inside. However, someone suddenly opened the door… It’s really important to have a WORKING LOCK for toilet.

Hope to see improvements. But I don’t think I will...

This is a Cantonese restaurant located in Cheng narea of Melaka. The restaurant has a reasonably nice setup. The menu is fairly wide and the restaurant is noted for a number of signature dishes. Suckling Piglet is well prepared and crispy. Ice Cube Sweet and Sour Pork is unique. Not forgetting, Mouth Watering Chicken (口水鸡) is great. All three dishes above are recommended. Food portions are reasonable. Both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are served here. Service is good, fast and professional. Cleanliness is good. Prices are reasonable. Clean public washrooms are available within the restaurant. Handicapped patrons on wheelchairs can patronize this restaurant easily. There are a fairly large number of car parking spaces available. Usually not a problem getting a parking space. 31-03-2025 : Their Lala Soup and Radish Beancurds are great Highly recommended.

Had an amazing dining experience at Hui Brother Restaurant (輝哥中餐館). The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — every dish tasted fresh and well-balanced. The signature dishes stood out with rich flavors and generous portions, while the smaller plates were equally delicious and perfect for sharing. I especially enjoyed the way each dish was cooked to perfection without being overly oily or salty, making it feel both comforting and refined. The service was warm and attentive — the staff made excellent recommendations and ensured that everything was served promptly. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, ideal for both family gatherings and casual meals with friends. Overall, Hui Brother Restaurant offers a genuine taste of Chinese cuisine with quality you can truly appreciate. Highly recommended, and definitely a place I’ll be coming back to again!
