Ordered a "Smoked Duck Italiano Cream Yolk Pasta" and a regular matcha latte. The food was subpar tho I hadn't high expectations on the pasta like proper carbonara with lots of yolks or distinct pecorino cheese and whatnot even with its name "Italiano" might imply something. It got me confused if the pasta was trying to be a carbonara or something else. Perhaps an imposter?
The pasta felt dry and wasn't creamy at all. Why the eggs curdled and became lumpy as you can see on the top part of my pasta. It was an easy case of poorly emulsification and it was like your standard Maggi at home with yolk broken and stirred while the stove was hot if that was your thing. Combined with the dry enough pasta got my throat felt like choking it. The smoked duck was regular and definitely could use extra on the plate with the price of RM26.
Next up, the matcha latte. It sucked. Big time. Barely tasted the matcha and more of sweetened condensed milk or creamer. Too sweet and dilute. Which was terrible because I do love matcha. The nice glass couldn't help its reputation.
The ambiance was good. I liked it as the cafe looks beautiful inside out. The staffs were also attentive and helpful. Thank you to the gentleman (owner I guess?) that provided me with wifi as my reception in there was terrible.
My food and drink need a lot of work. I might come by again to try other meals on the menu especially the Asian cuisine because they seemed...
Read moreFirstly, I actually like the vibe of this cafe. But earlier, I immediately felt disrespected when the owner shouted, “Do you think this is a mamak stall?” and he purposely said it while looking in our direction.
It’s fine, I stood up and went to pay. The owner was sitting right next to the cashier, so I intentionally spoke to the cashier loud enough for the owner to hear: “Is it not allowed to lepak here for a while? Because for me, a cafe is normally a place for people to chill.”
The cashier replied, “No problem at all. It’s only when there are customers queuing that we can’t let people sit too long, we need to give seats to others.”
So I said, “Well, since there’s no one queuing right now, then it’s fine for us to lepak, right? My friends and I do have common sense, that’s why we stayed longer only when there weren’t any waiting customers.”
By the way, you should understand, people lepak for hours at mamak stalls, but how much do they actually spend per person? Is it really worth it for the mamak stall to bear that cost? Here, each of us spent over RM40 per person at your cafe and you still think we can’t lepak a bit longer? Lastly, I just want to mention, if the owner had personally come and told us politely that we couldn’t lepak too long, I would’ve totally understood. But why did you have to...
Read moreI don’t normally write follow-up reviews, but after seeing the way my wife’s experience was inaccurately addressed, I felt the need to clarify.
First, during my visit, the service was disappointing. When I asked a simple question about seating, the waiter barely acknowledged me with a reluctant nod, as if I was bothering her. In F&B, basic courtesy and customer service should be a given, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here.
Secondly, I was appalled by the café’s defensive and misleading response to my wife’s review. We waited over 30 minutes for two drinks that were never even prepared because the order hadn’t been processed. When my wife approached the cashier, she was told the order didn’t go through, so of course we canceled them. If the drinks had been prepared, we would have taken them instead of canceling. Their reply on her review implied otherwise, which is completely untrue.
Food and ambience are important, but when service and customer relations are handled so poorly, it leaves a lasting bad impression. I hope the management starts taking customer feedback seriously and stops deflecting...
