The food here is excellent and despite being in a resort, they didn't really short-change guests on food quality. The ambience of the restaurant is also elegant and the service is competent although nothing to shout about.

Some negative reviews here are due to the price and I would say it's not cheap by any means but no more than typical resort price. While the quality is above typical casual Japanese chain restaurants, the prices are also correspondingly higher.

The concerns with the flies are indeed valid and a problem throughout the resort but Umi is actually affected less (as compared to Roselle which has an open air section). The restaurant tried to mitigate using lemongrass candles but this gives off a scent that may interfere...

We had a wonderful dining experience at Umi Japanese Restaurant in Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson.

The sashimi came in thick, generous cuts—so fresh, succulent, and filling on its own. Every dish we tried was delicious, from the beef teppanyaki and zaru soba to the soft shell crab salad and garlic fried rice.

It would be perfect if there were more sushi options beyond maki rolls, but overall the food quality was excellent.

A special mention goes to Guru and Kely, who provided our family with personalised, thoughtful service. Food was served promptly, and empty plates were cleared almost instantly—attentive yet never intrusive.

Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone...

The food at this restaurant isn't particularly tasty, but what's noteworthy is the poor service. We waited a long time to place our order, and even then, our food took a while to be served. Additionally, the teppanyaki cooking resulted in the whole restaurant being filled with smoke, which was unpleasant. It wasn't until we were halfway through our meal that we were given spoons, which should have been provided from the beginning. Finally, when it came time to pay, we had to queue at the counter, which is located near the entrance. This meant we had to wait in line while other customers were coming in. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. We won't...
