Visited Warung Salai during a recent trip to Port Dickson, and while the food has its highlights, there are definitely some things the team could improve, especially for first-time visitors. Ordering Experience & Seating: As a newbie, it was a bit confusing figuring out the ordering process. There was no clear signage or staff guiding customers, which can be frustrating during busy hours. Seating is quite limited, especially during peak holiday seasons. We had to wait around 5–8 minutes under the blazing hot sun before getting a seat. Thankfully, chairs were provided for those waiting. To order, you’ll need to manually fill in the quantity of dishes you pick. After securing your seat, payment is done at the counter first, and then your food will be served. Service Speed: Once seated and order placed, the food arrived relatively quick, within 5–10 min, and everything came out at the same time, which was nice. Food: Masak Lemak Daging Salai: Easily the star of the meal. Rich, creamy, and full of santan goodness. The smokiness of the daging was on point, and it was tender, not chewy at all. Cooked to perfection. A must-order for all ages. Asam Pedas Tetel: Unfortunately, this one was just okay. Lacked the expected kick—not spicy nor tangy enough. However, the tetel portion was generous and made it tolerable given the price. Sup Kaki Ayam & Sup Daging: The kaki ayam was perfectly cooked, soft and melt-in-your-mouth. Sup daging was tender and easy to chew. However, both soups lacked depth of flavor, a bit bland and probably not their signature offerings. Atmosphere: The place gets really noisy and crowded during peak periods. If you’re visiting during a public holiday or weekend, be prepared for some chaos. Still, the buzz shows how popular the place is. Final Thoughts: Despite the seating and ordering hiccups, Warung Salai is worth a visit, especially for their masak lemak daging salai. It lives up to the hype. The owner might want to consider opening up an upstairs seating area or improving the customer flow to ease congestion and heat-related discomforts. Would I return? Yes, but preferably during...
Read moreA cosy spot with a nice ambiance but the overall experience was quite mixed.
The lemak daging salai was definitely the highlight. It was rich, creamy, and full of flavour. However, the asam pedas pari was too salty which overpowered the dish. We ordered nasi putih with the ulam set instead of the full nasi set and it was a better choice. The ulam portion was more generous and you don’t need telur masin since the dishes were already salty.
One major letdown was the laici kang. They used Sarsi instead of the usual ingredients which completely ruined the flavour.
Another downside was the limited drink selection. No mineral water, only plain drinking water, and surprisingly no ice water either. For a restaurant, this felt quite inconvenient.
Prices were also a bit steep for the portion and overall quality.
All in all, it’s a cosy place with decent dishes like the lemak daging salai but improvements are definitely needed in taste consistency, drink options, and...

2)They will give menu, paper and pencil for us to tick which dishes that we desire and proceed for payment at counter.
4)Ordered duck, chicken and fish but unfortunately the chicken is VERY DRY and the duck is VERY CHEWY. The fish is just okay.
6)No aircond at this restaurant and only have fans and natural wind if you sit outside.
This place is not bad, but the price overall is moderately okay. For me, to come again maybe not. For others that love spicy,...
