Read moreIf you live in a hot, humid, and flat environment, this tea plantation and Cameron Highlands overall will feel like a stunning and refreshing escape. However, if you're used to mountainous landscapes with dense forests, waterfalls, and large lakes, you might find it underwhelming.
This plantation has its highlights but falls somewhere in the middle in terms of excitement and things to do. The food and service aren’t Michelin-worthy—I wouldn’t come hungry.
This was my first trip to Malaysia, coming from the Pacific Northwest and Singapore, and I’m not sure I’d revisit. The staff is young, generally unmotivated, and lacks warmth and hospitality—just the bare minimum.
We also visited KL, where service and amenities were better, but there still seems to be a broader culture of laziness or disinterest that’s unappealing to me in a tourist economy. This plantation is no exception. A shame, because the area is beautiful—if only the service and food matched.
If you're driving as a foreigner, be aware that road rules are loosely followed by the locals. Study up so you know what to avoid and when a local is handling the rules as a suggestion. Road signs are poor or structured oddly.
DO NOT attempt the narrow mountain roads if you're inexperienced—they're poorly maintained and a real "at your own risk" situation. The roads near the more popular plantations, including this one, are decent, but watch for potholes at the edges. They can take you by suprise.
And for the road up to BOH that Google Maps suggests—BEWARE! Take the hired jeeps. Don't be...

5th October 2:30 pm, my journey starts from TBS by bus. Hill area started after running 2 hours. It seemed like I was going to Bandarban district of Bangladesh. But after going deeper, natural beauty began to become clear. At one stage the tea garden of the natural beauty fell into my eyes. What a wonderful view, can not be understood by writing.
It was evening to reach Cameroon Highlands after about 5 hours bus journey. In the evening I saw the tea gardens in some light. But it was not very clear.
The next afternoon I went to Cameron Valley Tea Garden. There were many tourists crowding. Many people were watching beauty of the tea garden from a few distances. Some people were taking selfie with tea plants on the down. I also came near the tea garden. Green and green around the tea garden. What a beautiful green scenery under...
