only 1 of 2 chinese restaurant in bukit fraser. opening days of the competitor is erratic so at least this one stays open on weekdays. quantity is meagre even for large portions. prices are on the high side, more expensive than in kuala lumpur. all signs pointing to a tourist trap. quality of the good is average at best and definitely not value for money. their signature dish mutton curry, at rm35 for a small portion was tasteless, lacking in the aroma of the spices. they even stinge on the salt. looks like a job of some pre-mix curry powder with water with some mutton pieces, potato and water thrown into mixture to boil. the pork slices with salted fish had a few thinly sliced pork fillet with bits of salted fish braised in a brown sauce. the others, fu yung egg omelette sun kong tofu and mixed vegetables were all poorly done. big portions were ordered for these 3 but quantity is sorely lacking. omelette undercooked, tofu gravy had too much glaze and looked starchy. mix vege was tasteless. even the rice appeared undercooked. at rm2.50 per person, served in a bowl meant for 4/5 persons for and order of 9, the boss was not pleased when we requested to top up the rice bowl. overall, the food is barely satisfsctory. much afterthought is required for a return visit...

8 of us were at this restaurant but we are not big rice-eaters. We didn’t specify how many bowls of rice we wanted so we were served one big bowl of white rice to be shared among us (which is fine). We only ate 20% of the rice, but finished our 2 pork dishes, 1 chicken, 1 egg and 1 vege dishes.
After the meal, we clarified if rice was charged per person - it was (which is fine). We asked if we could then takeaway/ dapao the leftover rice since we’re already paying for it. They said no, only meant to be eaten at the restaurant (which is not fine). We were more than happy to pay for plastic containers to takeaway if necessary.
We paid up and just left. We saw the waiter take the big bowl of unfinished rice back to the kitchen. I have no idea whether they reused the rice for other diners or ate it themselves (I hope they threw it away).
Either way, this behaviour is unscrupulous at best and unhygienic and dangerous at worst (Malaysia still has 3k covid cases per day as I write this)
Taste is just ok. Poor value is expected since its targeted...

The temperature here quite warm, should be the heat from the kitchen. Outside temperature 17deg, the warm just nice. Prices here not cheap; Meat RM25 and Veges RM18. You can't complain the dishes expensive, because you hard to find a Chinese restaurant and the ingredients is hard to bring up.
The dishes served very fast after we order. The taste just... not bad lah, can't expect much....
