As far as I concern, this famous satay place along Jalan Teluk Sisek heading towards Teluk Cempedak beach in Kuantan has been doing business for the longest time. They are by far the most popular stay place in Kuantan and I'm sure that many locals will agree with me on this fact. You see, you need to know the selok belok (alternative routes) in the capital of Pahang if you do not want to get stuck in the traffic jam especially during rush hour. I always use the junction in front of this satay place to turn into Kubang Buaya area and then into Air Putih where I stay everytime I come back to Kuantan. And everytime I noticed that they were doing brisk business from dinner onwards. Finally my curiosity got the better of me and I finally came to try the satay although I had just finished my dinner somewhere else earlier. Lucky for me I found a parking spot nearby and quickly proceed to order. "Bos, sate ayam sepuluh batang" as I sat down and ordered the hot Milo while waiting. Not long after that, ten piping hot well-marinated chicken skewers were served together with the delicious peanut sauce. The sauce was quite watery and not as thick as I prefer it to be but taste-wise appetising enough. The chicken meat was juicy and tender - I hate it when they over-grilled the meat. If you do not compare Satay Zul to the famous Kajang Sate Haji Samsuri or the one in Lucky Garden Bangsar, this is one good satay place to be considered if you are in Kuantan. However, they are undisputed satay king in Kuantan in their own turf.

I don’t usually give bad reviews but I couldn’t stand the bad experience and quality of food that I had here..visited Kuantan for a business trip and purposely dine here for their high 4 stars ratings with over 2.9k reviews..satay meat was hard like a stone as if it was frozen for a very long time..inner meat was red and super dry..not only hard to chew but the meat was hard to remove from the satay stick using fork and spoon😑 the satay kepak meat was red and not fresh at all..the pulut mangga was tasteless..told one of the staff on our issue and he just said wait and the issue wasn’t address till we complain to another lady seems like the boss or manager of the outlet..she was helpful to change the remaining satay..texture improved a bit but still it’s the worst satay I ever tasted to be honest..very disappointing!

From a humble stall to a double storey restaurant, this is arguably one of the best Satay in Kuantan. They have been in that same location for decades. They serve a variety of meat and some dishes but let's talk about the signature ones. Chicken Satay is nice and tender. Not too dry and has full of spices. A bit sweet as satay usually is. Beef is not bad but you do encounter occasionally the tough ones. I call it the Teeth Killer. But the highlight here is the satay sauce. It taste as if peanut butter has been added. Strong nutty taste and fragrant, can be addictive. Then there's probably kerisik and brown sugar added. I tried the Nasi Lemak and it was not bad, sambal is not spicy. Verdict, a must come to savour Kuantan's popular eats. Word of advise, please tell them to cut down the sugar in the drinks.

After so many hours patiently waiting to have so called Sate Zul claims to be so famous... We drop by at this outlet to try them out... At 10. 05 pm Saturday 17 may 2025 Ordered 10 cucuk satay ayam... And 2 drinks. Came the satay without any sides of cucumber and onion.after I asked waiters they was asking and looking at each other... So I add on another 5 at 10. 31 pm so they will bring those side dishes together.. Sadly none was given but just another 5 sticks.. Again I called the waiter he said yes coming after 5min finishing off all the satay.. I asked again.. So when will u b able to serve me the cucumber and onions.. While my drinks was never even served after 15 sticks of satay gone... I asked again the cashier... So when do u intend to gimme the drinks... She said it takes time because everyone takes turn... But obviously I saw another table was served with drink satay cucumber and onions together ( another malay Malaysian) who came after us and was siting behind us. I was very angry and I told her weren't u suppose to serve the drinks and food together or atleast faster... Because I kept asking 3 waiters... None came... She was very arrogant and rude.. Not professional at all handling customer like me (Indian malaysian) I asked her if I can see the duty manager she ask me y I said I wan to complain... She just rudely turned her face. So I told her u gave me no choice other than writing this special review about ur famous shop. These are my receipts and images of the beautiful Malaysian malay cashier who was super unprofessional. I don't like to say this but I think they r racist! Dear management kindly check ur cctv probe ur workers and kindly came back to me. I will defnitly want to have a few words with you... Thankyou very much for ur unpleasant visit to ur main branch in kuantan...

Service above self Pre and post service is equally important to have basic knowledge and skills to handle customers!

No matter who you are.. You are here high up famous is because of customers like us.

Urs...

Went during a weekend night. Very crowded, need to go to second floor. Almost full but managed to find a empty table. But it took us very long for the staffs to clear the table (7 of us). They started cleaning the table which there is no one waiting and continue their preparation for the 'reserved table' while letting us waiting and standing beside the unclean table like no one business.

Finally got my table cleaned! Then one of the staffs passed us the menu, but then another staff came n grabbed back the menu for another table. So I have to go to another side of the shop to get the menu.

But can u believe that most of the customers already having their meals but they can tell me they have no more menu for me.. and in the end the staff told me: There are only 3 staffs today. I'm just confused, this is the question u should raise to ur boss, so ur boss knw u r overworked and 3 of u are understaffed for this number of customers. But not throwing this excuse to me as a customer, who coming and pay for the service.

While ordering , we were being informed the sate will take a while to come, around 15mins plus. We said we r ok to wait. But surprisingly ,sate served to us very fast, faster than our drink. We finished all the sate , but drinks are still not yet served.

Overall , good food but bad service n atmosphere.

I'm sorry. I think it would be better to take away than having it there to avoid bad...
