1st thing 1st. Can the local council workers MBSP do some thorough cleaning of the drains nearby & the rubbish area. Stinking smell in the air when ones enter the Fresh Food Court premises @Jalan Nangka! Very UNHEALTHY & UNWELCOMING!!!😝😝😝🤬🤬🤬 2nd thing is since this is a public place, pls put up a few sign boards stating "NO SMOKING ZONE! OFFENDERS CAUGHT WILL BE SUMMONED/ COMPOUNDED RM2,000.00. We want a CLEAN ENVIRONMENT b'cos 2nd cigarette 🚬 smoke is the most toxic to all of us especially to non-smokers! 3rd thing is can the authority INSIST that all FOOD COURT premises must be CLEAN & HYGIENIC AT ALL TIMES with Health Officer or Inspector checking randomly 🤔! This also applies to all FOOD COURTS all over Penang Mainland & Island. Rewards & Compliments awarded to those who enthusiastically & diligently participated it. Snap photos & compound those premises who couldn't care less for the PUBLIC'S CLEANLINESS! If repetition, stern warning notices issued to offenders before closing down for 14days! Within the 14days they must buck-up, making sure it is sufficiently CLEAN & HYGENIC satisfying the requirements before the Health Department issue a notice of approval of opening up for business again. This exercise MUST BE DONE YEAR IN & YEAR OUT! No "hangat hangat taib ayam!" 4th thing is can the local council be more diligent and foresight by planting easily maintained greenery shaded trees all over Penang Mainland & Island to clear the air pollution which is VERY VERY VERY HAZARDOUS to all Penang Langs, holidaymakers & tourists!!!😱😱😱😍😍😍 Let's BUILD A CLEANER, GREENER, HEALTHIER, HARMONIOUS & PROSPEROUS PENANG where everyone not only in MALAYSIA but GLOBALLY longing forward to visit & invest. 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍 5th food wise that all hawkers should be encouraged and educated to serve HEALTHY DISHES if possible! Avoid using harmful ingredients which maybe harmful for human consumption! Local Council can provide or have HEALTH TALKS / SEMINARS to all hawkers. Certificate of Attendance given to participants! Let this HEALTHY COOKING TALKS / SEMINARS be AN ONGOING PROJECTS! 👏👏🙏🙏🙏👍👍 TQVM & LOVE 🥰 FROM...

Dropped by this place for dinner - our second time. The first time we were there, we had some typical hawker fare but were not too impressed. Hoping to have a different view this time.

We arrived at a time when it rained heavily. In spite of the many available parking spots at the rear of the shop, it was muddy and filled with puddles. Cars which passed by splashed water all over us. Not a great start. For such a large food court, surely the parking could be improved.

Having gone though the stalls at the food court, it was obvious that the economy rice stall was the star of the food court. Located smack in the centre, it most likely cater to the working crowd which were on their way home from work. There were a lot of varieties and looked pretty good but we opted to try something else.

We decided to try the Thai tomyam fried rice and the fried hor fun with egg (moonlight fried hor fun - literal translation). The fried hor fun had plenty of wok hei and the egg soaked into the horfun making it a delicious aromatic meal. Thumbs ups.

The Thai tomyam fried seafood rice was also good as it was smoky and had plenty of prawns and sotong. It could do with a bit of green even as garnishing.

After the meal, we tried the apom (peanut crepe/machang kuih) and were pleasantly surprised at how crispy and yummy it was. Not overly sweet and with the right amount of corn. The seller was also very friendly.

Would return for the horfun and perhaps try something else there. Other options which we did not manage to try but looked interesting were: Hong Kong steamed chee cheong fun, regular chee cheong fun, steamed hor fun with seafood, ikan bakar, BBQ chicken wings, clam (lala) beehoon soup, seafood...

Local Chinese Hawker Centre

pts: Lots of choices. Most of the popular Penang hawker / street food can be found here. Yam rice, laksa, curry mee, jawa mee, loh bak, econ mee, econ rice, etc. Even grill fish. Easily 20 over stalls. Lots of seats, but can be full during holiday season. Most of the time you'll be able to find one. Convenient access from town's main road Jalan Song Ban Kheng.

pts: Parking lots and driveways are non-tar, merely covered with sand & pebbles. If you don't feel like damaging your car tyres, park further away. If it's wet or raining season, can be quite water puddles can be annoying and shoes / feet filled with sticky sand. Unsafe parking lots with no proper lighting. Keep watchful eye over children & the elderly. Temperature inside this place can be unbearable at times. Esp, if your table / seat is not beneath any fans. Order, pay and pick up your own drinks. No...

Had a bad experience here🥹 even though many food options in this food court but this economy rice really disappointed me😔 first first we saw the rice left a little inside the rice bucket and the new one was almost done prepared, so we decided to wait for the new one. Once they took out the new rice bucket, they directly poured the new one into the previous rice bucket, which means the left rice just now was in the bottom of the rice bucket again (luckily we waited for the new one), but a female staff whispered beside us complained abt we want to wait for the new one. But it’s ok, that’s all small matter until I almost eat an insect which inside the dishes🤢 I just noticed it when I almost finished eating😢 I informed the staff abt this but her reaction just shocked and said her job is only selling, the food was not cooked by her, it’s cooked by their kitchen staffs hmmm…

Chance upon this food court while passing by the area on Tuesday. Quite a few stalls were closed so had to come back again the next day. The claypot salted fish chicken with bitter gourd was flavourful and made rice disappear in a flash. My dining companion had the wanton noodle and Hong Kong chee cheong fun. Both were equally delicious. On our next visit, we brought reinforcements and tried an array of dishes from salted fish fried bihun (the sambal belacan was noteworthy), belacan chicken, jawa mee (light and not too cloying), white curry mee (fragrant and delectable), fried dwua pahn (well fried with wok hei) and ban zhang kueh.
