I’m extremely disappointed with the service, and I will never come back to dine here again. Today, I went to Sushi Mentai Bukit Mertajam for dinner. Around 6:40 PM, we were seated and handed in our order. Everything seemed fine at first, and the food started arriving bit by bit. We ordered 2 sets of sushi, but 3 plates were served instead. How could such a careless mistake happen? I’m speechless. As we were finishing our meal, we realised that the rice (R5) we ordered still hadn’t arrived. I asked one of the staff members to check, but they didn’t respond. A few minutes later, I asked again, but still no response. I kept asking different staff members, but no one seemed to care, let alone offer an explanation. By the time it was already past 7:40 PM, more than an hour since we arrived, I was frustrated. Normally, this dish only takes about 10 minutes. Finally, a Chinese male staff member came over. I explained the situation to him, and he went to check, only to claim that we didn’t order the dish.
At this point, I was really upset. I showed him the order sheet, and there it was, R5, clearly written but crossed out, even though the dish had never arrived at all. It’s shocking that after asking so many staff members earlier, no one bothered to check properly. No one even smiled, apologised, or showed any basic courtesy. Even the manager in charge didn’t apologise and had a sour expression.
I left feeling extremely disappointed and angry. I’ve always enjoyed Sushi Mentai, but this experience has completely ruined it for me. How can a restaurant treat its customers like this? We waited for seat, she arranged us to the middle area without specify which table. We waited for waiter to clean the table. After like 5 mins, there is another group of customer coming in. The female waitress arranged them to middle area as well. While we were waiting for the table to be cleaned, she asked us to wait for another table which is same size. (plenty of other bigger / unoccupied table in the restaurant). The reason given by her is we're only 2 persons, but the other customer is 3 persons. We have waited to be seated, not like we are jump queueing. The way your waitress prioritise 3 person instead of 2 person is even ridiculous. This is totally unacceptable and ridiculous to me. I left the restaurant immediately. I hope the management take this matter seriously.
