Very spacious & cooling food court in Bercham, Ipoh.
The food court equip with HVLS (High Volume Low Speed) Fan aka giant fan, so it’s quite cooling even at afternoon.
One thing I don’t like about this food court is the drinks have to self order in counter & only accept cash. Due to not bringing any cash, I’m unable to order any drink. Please improve this at least accept DuitNow QR.
I come this food court to purposely try out the newly open stall called Pokeee Duu 鬼马青饭。
The Crispy Rolled Pork Belly Rice 脆皮卷烧肉青饭 is damn good, although it price at RM20 may be slight at a high side, but with the portion of the Roasted Pork Belly, it worth the price. In between of the rolled pork belly, there is also some herbs in between which make it taste more unique.
The other side dish like egg, two types of gravy, & vegetable is a very good combination to balance up the dish.
Would definitely want to come back to try for the other menu in this store. Highly recommended!
Not to forget, they accept...
Read moreThis is a food court with a good variety of local Ipoh food. A personal favourite for casual dining in Ipoh during the day.
We only had light refreshments today. Ai Yee Peng, and Ma Lai Koe.
The Ai Yee Peng is, at best, mediocre. Whilst a whole lime is given, which gives a very nice fresh perspective to the dish, but the Ai Yee Peng jelly itself is not very satisfactory. It is just way too soft, and insipid in flavour. Luckily the generous lashing of salted plum powder managed to redeem it somewhat.
The Ma Lai Koe from the Langkap Pau stall is reliably good.. The salty caramelised aroma is very pleasant, and stronger than what is normally found from other vendors. The stronger aroma complements the denser and heavier texture of this steamed cake. Perhaps this heavier texture is a result of the shape which this Ma Lai Koe is made, that is each serving is like a large round muffin, instead of a cut slice from a large pan? Whatever the reason, the Langkap Pau stall supplies really good...
Read morePassing through Bercham on our way back to KL, we decided to stop for a late lunch. Not my food court of choice buy there were some decent stalls. We tried the Char kueh teow with duck egg which was average, a friend had the Chap fan which looked average and cost him rm 8 for some vege and a piece of fried chicken and we shared some popiah and tahu bakar. The popiah was so good we ordered another plate. My friend saw the pau stall and tried the char siew and mui choy kow Yoke plus which were quite good, they were only the bigger side size wise and cost slightly over rm 5 each. We could see that there were long queues for the pau from time to time and these were local tourists probably on day trips to Ipoh, almost each one had bought at least 15 to 20+ paus each! No surprise, my friend did the same to bring home to his family. Parking can be a bit tight during peak hours and you just need to be patient looking for a spot. Otherwise it is worth a visit for the special items...
