I came far from johor and have high expectations to have their mee udang here. It was my mistake for not reading the reviews beforehand. I came with my family. I ordered their mee udang which came quite fast and the taste is also good, i finished all of it l. It came with three nicely cooked massive prawns. However, the service that I disappointed with. Only the mee udang came fast, the other dishes were so slow. There were a lot of workers here. Since it’s already night, they just hang in the front table, talking loudly. I have no problem with that. My only problem, I am a slow eater,,by the time I almost finished my food but the other dishes still haven’t received yet. We asked for it. It occurred that the dishes have been done for quite some time but the servers all were so busy talking(?) and didn’t have time to serve apparently. The food came cold and one of the dishes came wrongly as ordered. What got me so so mad was how they reacted when we confront about it. They act so defensive instead of be responsible of it. We don’t mind eating the food but really get offended when we were treated like that. I suggest them to do proper training for the food servers~ So offended we lose our appetite and didn’t eat the food. My dad confronted them again when paying for the food at the counter,,,they still acted so defensively 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Anyway my dad gave them a proper talk and still paid for the wrongly came food. It would be better if they use proper language and be responsible...
Read moreRecently visited Restoran Mee Udang Mak Jah and it was a delightful seafood experience! Here's a quick breakdown of what I tried:
🍜 Mee Udang The star of the show! The broth was rich, slightly sweet and savory with a strong prawn flavor. Packed with fresh, juicy prawns and crunchy vegetables, it had a satisfying depth that seafood lovers would truly appreciate. A generous portion and very filling!
🔥 Kerang Bakar These grilled cockles were fresh, slightly smoky, and perfectly cooked. Served with spicy dipping sauces that added a fiery kick — perfect for those who enjoy bold, local flavors. A great appetizer or snack to share.
🥬 Cucur Bawang Crispy on the outside and soft inside, these onion fritters were a great side dish. Lightly seasoned and best dipped in the accompanying peanut sauce. Comforting and addictive!
💬 Overall Verdict Great place for seafood lovers craving traditional Malaysian flavors. Affordable, flavorful, and satisfying. Casual setting, friendly staff, and fast service. I’d definitely come back for...
Read moreDisappointed with the Mee Udang, meehoon Udang n mee goreng udang. Gravy is thin n quite tasteless n some of the prawns are soft n not fresh. Place is unhygienic lots of flies n floor is dirty. Lots of ants too. The plates are old n has lots of permanent stains. We needed additional bowls which we were ask to take from a table with lots of ants crawling on the bowls n plates. We had to wash the plates ourselves before we dare to use them. Will not come back again. Don't know why this is the most crowded of them all.
Tried another stall about a year ago along same stretch quite late about 930pm. All the crowded shops has sold out. It turns out that the Mee Udang has thick n tasty gravy n very fresh prawns. Can't remember the name. First time I had such tasty mee Udang.
Since Mak Jah has the most crowd, we thought this must be much better so we came here this trip and brought along 6 friends w me. Highly recommended to try Mee Udang. But what a disappointment.
Next trip must search for that first shop I went...
