The kai si hor fun is now more intense in taste. Good amount of prawn oil and chives add a kick.
Back for more kai si hor fun, nasi lemak and kopi kaw.
Back for more kai si hor fun and kopi ping kaw. Saw a new stall selling prawn noodles. Order a bowl to try. Worse ever prawn noodles. The soup was clear with a slight hint of prawn oil. Taste more like clear soup.....
A month ago Tried the nasi lemak and back for kai si hor fun and kopi ping. The nasi lemak nothing to shout about, even the sambal is bad. Looks like hai si hor fun is the only thing worth eating here....
Back to try the curry noodles, however it is quite normal only. Still the kai si hor fun and the kopi ping are really good....
Came for more kai si hor fun. They are now selling more items, like curry noodles and bean sprout, steam chicken etc. Will try the curry noodle on the next round.
Chicken rice is so so only. Chicken meat is normal, Siew yoke no crunch (skin not crispy) and char siew still have lots of fat. Char siew should be charred a little and the fats rendered down..
Back to try other stalls. We ordered the wantan noodles, CKT, Chee Cheong Fun and of course the kai si hor fun. The kai si hor fun no doubt is still the best tasting. CKT was ok but a bit oily. Wantan mee the dry style was a bit on the sweet side and CCF was average only....
2 weeks ago This is a new kopitiam in PJ old town, took over from previous kopitiam. Renovated and now is clean and airy. Plenty of food stalls. First time here, tried the kai si hor fun and pork noodles. The kai si hof fun is very good, however the pork noodles are below average. The kopi ping also good. Will be back to try the other stalls. Parking here will be a bit difficult. At the back which is housing area, beware of saman and towing in illegally parked. You can try parking opposite the main road toward the food...
Read moreHere are all the items, I've tried here and I think you should too.
Ipoh Hor Fun: Straight up fire. With more and more players in this genre this is one of the entries which I vouch for. A must try.
Char Kuey Teow: Smoky and all basic criterias are met. Not dissapointed at all.
Nasi Lemak: Crispy ayam berempah and nice spicy savoury note on the sambal. Fragrant rice too.
Hakka Mee: Perhaps one of the more unique dishes here which is worth a try.
Dont get me wrong the rest of the items are also not bad but if you're coming for a quick one, then these are the ones i recommend.
Oh, the drinks here are of great...
Read moreThis used to be the nostalgic Hong Joo Coffee Shop, which has changed hands since Sept 2024 and now under new ownership and name. New design, more stalls added, and some old ones gone. The well-known Fried Kway Teow stall is still in the front, but the Indian rice stall is no longer here.
Problem is now 90% of the workers and stall operators are foreigners, so you can imagine the food quality. Somehow, I still prefer that locals are cooking the food and the foreigners just send the food. Like how it used to be, but as we know, many locals are...
