The concept is nice, the staffs are helpful. I came during weekend at around 10.30am, it was packed - we took the last available seat and 80% of the food on the trays are finished, only left with couple of kuihs and about 10-15 nasi bungkus (nasi kerabu, nasi lemak etc). So we had to order from the menu. We ordered: Lontong/Lodeh 6.3/10 It was nice, and of acceptable taste. However, it is room temperature and only very slightly warm, I hope it could be warmer so it would be more enjoyable. Lempeng 7.5/10 The sambal was awesome, lempeng was soft, we enjoyed it but again, lack of warmth. Feels like they did it hours ago and didnt put in heat conserving container. Roti Jala 4/10 Curry amount was very little and watery, taste is almost okay. Roti jala was cold. Mee Kari 4.5/10 Chicken was so soft, full of chicken, fishcake, also served with half a boiled egg! However the curry itself is watery and lack of taste. Again, room temperature and not warmed up. Cucur Udang 8/10 It was their special dish of the day or something and special it was! Tasted great, the kuah kacang is superb. Wish it could be more crispier on the outside but that's okay, not a big deal. Satay Ayam and Daging 8.5/10 It was super super good, even the kuah kacang!! We regret not ordering this more and make it as the main dish (forgot to take pic of this) Teh tarik, Kopi O and Limau panas 6/10 Teh tarik definitely from some kind of 3in1 means they use instant powder, lack of umph, watery. The other two are fine.
Price wise, it is reasonable and affordable. but sad that most of our food are not warm. I understand they do the food in bulk but at least they can warm it up in a microwave before serving or put the food in heat conserving containers.
Parking in PJ Old Town is always tricky so I am not...

It was one Sunday during the long holidays. We dropped off the kids for their classes near the shop at 9:30 AM, and then had to drive all the way to Ampang to send the youngest for her music class at 12:00 PM. That left us with two hours to fill. We decided to grab a light breakfast, and since this place had an ok-ish rating, we thought we’d give it a try.
There wasn’t a long queue when we arrived, and after a short wait, we got a table. The vibe was calm, airy, and well ventilated. Already a good start!
We ordered a few items and rated them as follows:
Nasi lemak bungkus : Flavorful with a generous portion of ikan bilis, just enough sambal, and half a boiled egg. The sambal leaned sweet, which made it kid friendly but still true to its taste. Solid average. 7/10. Mee kari : Looked as unappealing as it tasted. The broth was thin, portion small, and I couldn’t even finish it. 4/10. Karipap : Hard to go wrong here, and they didn’t, but also didn’t shine. Just above average. 6/10. Seri Muka : Nicely done. Perfect sweetness, well-cooked pulut, and gone in one bite. 8/10. Kopi ais : Balanced, not too sweet, with that kaw kick. 8/10. Teh O ais : Nothing special, just okay. 7/10. Milo ais : Not sweet, but also lacked enough Milo powder for my liking. 6/10.
Although we had two hours to spare, we finished in about 30 minutes. We thought of lingering longer, but the queue outside was getting long. So, being considerate, we gave up our seats and continued our lepak at Zus Coffee...
Read moreIt is located in the old part of PJ Town, and obviously the shop looked weary, rustic and old. My wife was drawn to come here for lunch after being recommended by her cousin, who is already in his seventies, and obviously...old.
"Old" being the key operating word here, that was exactly how we felt upon entering this cafe. Retno music was in the air, and the decor was made of antique furniture and appliances. True to its concept, we did see some oldies but goodies enjoying their meals inside.
The foods on display were nothing out of the ordinary. Or, maybe we had totally missed their specialties, as I didnt get to see the menu. I did notice the variety of traditional malay kueh mueh being displayed, but it was already noon, so I didnt imagine that they were still fresh. Still, my wife is a connoiseurs of malay kueh, and couldnt resist taking one, including the Peach Strudel. She ended up being not very impressed.
Both of us decided to go for the Nasi Campur, consisting of plain white rice, and Gulai Telur Itik, with a fried chicken for me and a whole fried fish for her. Well, nothing that special really...so, I just wonder why the brouhaha after all...
We dont really get it, but maybe it was us who missed the attractions. All I can say to the said cousin, " maybe we are not...
