I absolutely love Teien Japanese Fusion Restaurant at Ativo! Their constant introduction of new food menu items keeps me excited to visit every time. The cozy ambiance creates a perfect dining environment, and I'm always blown away by the delicious food they serve. The attentive service adds to the overall wonderful experience.

This place has truly mastered the art of tantalizing taste buds with their exceptional food offerings. Each dish is a masterpiece of flavors, meticulously crafted to perfection. From the first bite to the last, I am consistently amazed by the harmonious blend of ingredients and the burst of flavors in every mouthful.

Their commitment to innovation reflects in their ever-evolving menu, which continues to surprise and delight. Whether it's the innovative twists on classic dishes or entirely new creations, the chefs at Teien Japanese Fusion Restaurant showcase their culinary prowess in every dish they present.

The quality of the ingredients they use is evident in the freshness and authenticity of the flavors. Each plate feels like a journey through the vibrant and diverse Japanese culinary landscape. The attention to detail is truly commendable, and it's evident that every element on the plate is carefully considered to create a symphony of taste.

In addition to the delectable food, the cozy ambiance of the restaurant creates an inviting and warm atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can relax, savor your meal, and engage in meaningful conversations without any rush. I recently visited Teien Japanese Buffet and had a mixed experience. The restaurant focuses heavily on flavor, but some dishes were a bit overwhelming. For example, even the chawanmushi had a heavy soy sauce taste, which might not be to everyone’s liking.

A few highlights include their spicy grilled squid, especially the grilled scallops, which were quite tasty. Their homemade lime juice was decent as well. The salmon belly was okay, but unfortunately, it’s limited to only two slices per person, which makes it not worth the high price.

However, I would recommend avoiding their fried soft shell crab — it wasn’t good. Their dessert cakes also lacked flavor, and I’m not sure if it was due to them sitting out too long or something else, but they weren’t fresh.

One major issue was with the grilled salmon had a strange odor. For salmon sashimi, the first plate was great, but when we ordered a second round, the salmon looked much darker and seems like colouring. Maybe the salmon wasn’t wild-caught, and the quality was inconsistent. We decided to stop ordering salmon altogether after that.

Another downside was the rice; it wasn’t cooked properly and was a bit hard. I hope they improve their rice quality. On a positive note, if you’re celebrating a birthday, you get a chance to throw the dice for a discount, which is a fun touch.

One more thing to note is the placement of drinks and desserts. It was a bit inconvenient for customers sitting further inside the restaurant to access these items.

Overall, there are some good options here, but I think the quality and consistency could be improved, especially...

I came here because of a XHS post (where it claims it’s better than another restaurant Mitas). But in reality, it’s NO WHERE close to Mitas at all, NO WHERE CLOSE TO, with a higher price charged (RM102.08 including tax) vs Mitas**, with a few reasons below:

  1. Food: Apart from Sashimi (which is pretty standard across all places), the overall food standard is really “so so” vs the other places with the same price range. Hmm in short, the taste is just plain and “lack a bit” for everything, e.g. the grilled meat is under-seasoned, the fried stuff is just lacking quality - it’s just, not good :(

The variety is low, they serve a lot of “rice” in overall. The Menu has a lot of different sections (like rice, noodles, soup, sashimi), but the options under each section is very limited. Mitas** definitely wins on this.

  1. Drinks: The standard “tea and coffee”, + those sugary cordial drinks. They do not serve carbonated drinks - so no Coke no Sprite! Again, Mitas** wins it.

  2. Dessert: They have waffle, fruit, and Ice Cream. But then their artificial ice cream is not good at all, just comes with 2 flavours - Chocolate and Vanilla (that’s all?!) , operated at a self-service Ice cream machine like those in Ikea. Again, Mitas** serves you with premium ice-creams with flavour like Matcha and Black sesame.

In short, I will not come back with the price paid for such quality, there are much better options available in...

there are definitely much better japanese ala carte buffets of the same price range in town. the goods first. food serving speed is quite acceptable after each order is placed. parking is easy and plenty at basement. restaurant setup is ok, but the seat we allocated to was quite warm. the service staffs are ok, but they failed to give clear ordering instruction, which caused the manager to blame us for messing up their ordering system. (more below) now the bads. first of all, they require non-refundable deposit to make booking. who does that? the restaurant manager who is a local is rude. saw her "raising her voice" to other customers too for using their self service food counter "incorrectly". now the main bads. the food quality is honestly not acceptable even at this price point. some cheaper steamboat buffets at half the price have better and fresher food. the food presentation is alright and standard for japanese ala carte. but the freshness is really lacking and tasting is just bland at best. it makes me feel that the restaurant only has the intention to maximise profits by keeping food quality low. I will not go back again and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
