I've been meaning to come here ever since it opened last year. And when I finally got the chance to, I was so excited, since it's also my first time here. I enjoy a good buffet bbq. With the packages offered I knew I had to give it a try.
So there are 2 packages, RM 48 for chicken and pork, and RM68 for chicken, pork, beef, lamb and seafood. We took the RM 68 package.
When we arrived we noticed they've got nice decor and ambiance. It's all vibrant. That's a plus. We would have to order raw meats and seafood on the QR menu. There was also a buffet inside, cooked food and raw vegetables.
Basically the food is so disappointing. The raw chicken, beef, lamb, and pork were all sliced thin. Though they marinated them all, the flavour was totally not in there. It was all bland! And when it's all cooked the meat becomes dry. I don't even taste the marinade flavours anymore. Ya sure there are dipping sauces.. but no, still did not make any difference.
Proper marinade goes a long way.
The seafood another thing... Not much choices. Only prawns and squid are included in the package. The prawns were small. Same goes to the squid. Though they were all fresh, I wished they served big prawns and squid. Fish aren't included in the package, you would have to pay for a dish.
I actually noticed it from the start, the some-what blandness was there, but I decided to wait it out, even ordered a couple more batches of meat, hoping to get any flavour out of any of them, but I realised the more I eat the more bland it all taste in my mouth. Also, the portion was small. All of it. The cooked food buffet was all average.
Honestly not worth the hype, and not worth my...
ย ย ย Read moreWe came for dinner on Wednesday, so the ladies could enjoy a 20% discount. It wasn't too busy, and we had upstairs all to ourselves. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. We expected there was a time limit of two hours, but we were there longer than that and no one asked us to leave.
We chose the RM65 buffet which includes pork, chicken, beef, lamb, and seafood options. There are 10 types of meat that can be ordered for free. This can be seen from their online menu. The meat is sliced thinly, but all fresh and taste good.
There is some food at the buffet bar too, good as starters while waiting for the meat to cook on the grill. We liked the fried wontons and pickled radish. There were other cooked food but we didn't try them. Ice-cream was pretty good too.
Personally I feel that RM65 per person is a bit too expensive, especially since there is supposedly a time limit, and the meat do take time to cook. But overall it was a good experience and we enjoyed the meal.
If it was priced at around RM50 with the current selection, or maintain the price but add one free serving of premium meat for every two diners or remove the time limit, it will truly be a...
ย ย ย Read moreHad an amazing time dining at Happy Garden BBQ Restaurant! The restaurant is located on the top floor, which adds to the nice ambiance. I went with my family and boyfriend, and we all enjoyed the Yakiniku buffet so muchโI ate way too much to the point where walking became a challenge (totally worth it though, haha!).
For RM65 per person, Iโd say itโs quite reasonable considering the variety and quality of the meats. On top of the BBQ, they also offer soup, sushi, and desserts, which made the experience even better! If you love Japanese-style BBQ with a great selection of sides, this is definitely a must-try. Will be...
