Mangkiu Bakes — Restaurant in Sabah

I’ve been a loyal customer of Mangkiu Bakes for quite a while now and have always loved their cakes, but my experience in April for my son’s birthday was disappointing enough that I feel the need to share it. When I arrived to collect my fully-paid custom cake, the lady at the counter insisted I still had an outstanding balance. I showed her the payment receipts on the spot, yet she simply stared, made a face, and disappeared into the kitchen without a word of explanation. No “let me double-check,” no reassurance, just silence while I stood there wondering what was happening. She eventually returned, handed me the cake, and, again, said nothing until I prompted her: “I did make full payment, right?” Only then did I get a curt “yes.” There was no apology for the mix-up, no “thank you” for my purchase, and certainly no smile. For a store I’ve supported many times, the lack of basic courtesy was shocking. The cake itself was-as always-delicious. But friendly service matters just as much as good baking. I genuinely hope management addresses staff training and customer communication, because I’d love to keep buying my celebrations here without the sour aftertaste...

I always order my cakes from this baker! They never failed me! The texture of the cakes.. The flavor of the cakes.. The presentation of the cakes.. The price of the cakes.. Everything just perfect the way you wanted it to be. Do take note, you need to order at least 2 weeks before the event. Is best 1 month before, since they're always fully booked. You can have the options either to pick up the cake from their store or ask for delivery. Mangkiu is the best...

Went the store at 3pm so there was only cinnamon rolls left, it was pretty good.

Lower stars for walk in experience, while store is small and decently decorated..it leaves nothing to be desired. Higher stars if they had more...
