Spent nearly RM340 and I'm really sorry to say that the service is absolutely terrible. I don't normally leave any review for a restaurant but sadly to say we had a really bad experience. Maybe the restaurant is overrated.
Pros: The puffs were alright.
Cons: Took more than half an hour to serve the puffs which can be just directly served on the plate and bring forth to the table. They have used a phone to send the order to kitchen or cashier (I Believe so), however our order are completely messed up. As every orders we put in has never arrived until we have to keep asking if the food is on its way. Clearly they've forgotten our order or misplaced it. When we asked if the staff can check it for us, the lady was polite and said she'll check it for us. All of us have the impression the order has completely messed up. Then another staff came out and said the order was crashed/messed up [can tell her tone of voice wasn't the best]. It's indirectly implying is it our fault because we're a LARGE group??!
No one has even show the initiative to see if orders are on its way but instead we all have to chase it up and ended up with an impression of playing the blaming game (because we are a large group)?!
The drinks order was incorrect for at least two to three times. I totally get it that things can be out of stock due to CNY. At the end, no even telling us the laksa is sold out and until we asked she said we never placed the order?! My cousin even went over to the counter to order it then she admit we did place the order but the laksa is now sold out!! I'm really sorry but this is is just not justifying how there are four staffs there excluding chefs in the kitchen, while there's only us (a large group of 15 is) and two tables of four adults, but things are just so messed up.
Of course there's an 5% service charge in the bill which is normal but I'm really sorry but we don't think we really had the service at all.
Don't think we'll come again as it's a very disappointed experience. Thank you for the yummy puffs and all the best...
Read moreSearching for an aesthetic cafe in Sandakan and stumbled upon San Da Gen Kopitiam. Its located in the middle of the town and its abit hard to find parking. We had to park quite far away.
Upon entering the place was abit crowded but managed to get a seat pretty quickly tho. The cafe is decorated beautifully, a mix of modern and classic kopitiam style.
For food we ordered : Traditional Laksa (RM12.90) Sambal Konlou Chicken (RM12.90) Nasi Lemak Slipper Lobster (RM38)
The traditional laksa was great! The portion was huge and it was so creamy and the filled with lots of tauhu, fishball, fried beancurd and egg. The laksa resembles curry mee but the taste is definitely different! Its a 10/10! The sambal konlou chicken has a smaller portion but equally delicious and full filling. The nasi lemak has a big portion and the lobster is cooked to perfection. Its chewy and the sambal is not too spicy just perfect.
For drinks we had : Cold Teh Nai (RM5.90) Cold Teh C (RM5.90) Cold Honey Lemon (RM5.90) Cold Teh O (RM3.90)
The drinks were good and more on the average side.
For dessert we had : Portuguese Egg Tart (RM3.80) Vanilla Cream Puff (RM 8)
The Portuguese egg tart was sooooo gooddd, its sweet and has the pudding like texture on the inside and the crust is crispy. The cream puff is great too. Its big and the vanilla filling is perfect and not too sweet 😁 definitely will recommend these both. They have other pastries too like croissants of different flavours. Their famous dessert is the UFO tart which was unfortunately unavailable when we visited 🥺 (but do try if you go here, heard its so good)
The waiting time was over 30mins was why the 4 stars. However, overall the experience here is great and the ambiance is amazing. Recommend to check...
Read moreDuring our recent visit, we enjoyed a wonderful meal at San Da Gen Kopitiam, which is located in the Sandakan town centre. The restaurant had a relaxed, casual atmosphere, and the staff were cheerful and helpful. Initially, we misunderstood the ordering process, thinking that we could only order desserts and drinks. Once it was clarified, we opted for a single dish to share from a set menu specially formulated for Ramadan. As well as individual desserts to taste and drinks.
Our Order: ● Lamb Shank Bakar — RM 49.90 ● Roti Kahwin — RM 4.50 ● Mango Smoothie — RM 17.70 ● Hot Cappuccino — RM 12.00 ● UFO Tart — RM 3.50 ● Mango Cream Puff — RM 10.00 ● Pistachio Choc Puff — RM 18.00
The food was simply amazing; everything we tried was delicious! The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Lamb Shank Bakar, which was presented as a generous platter. Here’s what was included in the platter: Whole Lamb Shank, Spiced Lamb & Potato Samosa, Cucur Udang Jumbo, Nasi Arab Kismis, Telur Sambal, Cucumber & Tomato Salsa, Soup Asam Jawa, and a Secret Sauce.
The Roti Kahwin surprised us; it consisted of a thick slice of butter and sweet jam between two thin slices of toasted white bread. While it tasted great, if given the choice, we would have preferred to skip this item.
We found all the pastries outstanding, and we would happily order any of them again. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend this food...
