Very poor service. Flawed/very problematic ordering.

The ordering system this shop used is very common, where you will have to scan a QR code, access to the menu online and thereafter add the order to cart and confirm the order. We placed our order at approximately 7:43pm. The drinks were served 5mins later which we had no issue with. However, the foods were never served. We complained to the staff at around 820pm which is 40mins after we placed our orders. The staff’s initial explanation was it was because we did not ā€œConfirm Orderā€. We are pretty sure we did. In fact, the status of the order is ā€œPreparing orderā€ when we check, and the drinks were part of the order. [You can check your order by scanning the QR code and press ā€œCheck Orderā€ (or something similar).] Or perhaps, the staff meant confirm the order with the staff again after confirming the order in the website? But there was no instruction to do so and how would we expect that we need to confirm order twice (first in the website, and second verbally)? Furthermore, the status had already shown ā€œPreparing you orderā€, all foods and drinks were already entered as order. When we questioned the staff on the fact that since the drinks were part of the same order, it was served - so how could it be that we failed to confirm the order? The staff’s answer was that the order for the drinks and foods were ā€œseparateā€ in that the bar in front received the order but the kitchen at the back did not received the order. So in short, the kitchen ā€œneverā€ receive our order on the foods. It was mere confusion on how their system works. We left without our order served and only paid for the plates we took. When we left, we might be wrong but it seems that the other tables’ orders were not served yet as well and we hoped that they did not have the same issue as us.

Even though the staff has apologized to us, we are still very disappointed on the ordering system implemented and how things were handled.

We wish this issue can be solved. It was a very unpleasant experience in this restaurant especially with...

Japanese Cuisine

Self-order with QR code (Zeoniq System, personally hate this system as it bugs out and navigation is a chore.)

They have those 'robots' that brings the food over from the kitchen to you. ( Too noisy, destroys the atmosphere and the location is noisy enough already.)

Food ordered: Chicken Teriyaki, Unagi with plain rice (ƀ la carte) , Tori Katsu Curry Rice.

Chicken Teriyaki: Chicken Teriyaki skin like wet cloth.

Unagi with plain rice (ƀ la carte): Subpar sauce, fish is not fresh even when taking into account it is frozen food. Rice was a wet messy pile.

Tori Katsu Curry Rice : Served in a bowl with curry drenched on the left side of the bowl. (Note that the curry does not possess the original 'muddy', viscous texture. It is the 'watery' kind of curry. Upon arrival, the rice had already ā€˜absorbed’ all the curry gravy and there was nothing left to sample. The Tori (chicken) had a decent crust and crunch to it but quickly took a turn when biting into the chicken meat. Its too wet and had the feeling that it wasn’t sufficiently cooked inside.)

TL; DR : Below sub-par Japanese food, noisy, not worth the money. Do not come here with any expectations. Would recommend coming here with poor expectations so it tastes better than you think.

Come if: Looking for a quick bite. They have mini chocolate cakes and green tea cakes that are decent. You want to sit down and chill waiting for your friends/family/spouse/significant other to do their grocery shopping. (Plenty of seats and tables. Be sure not to be rude by ordering a cup of tea at least, and try their cakes on the conveyor belt!) You have ZERO expectations.

Don’t come if: You are a casual Japanese cuisine enjoyer. Look somewhere else. You hate dining in a noisy restaurant, I swear the ā€˜robot’ will drive you...

Had lunch here twice and both times were about the same. In summary the food was of good standard but service was terrible.

Both of my visits with my family were for lunch around noon, with one on a weekday and the one today (Sunday).

Service was super slow. Waiting times for drinks alone were upwards of 20 minutes. I mean it's not like I was ordering anything fancy, just plain water and jasmine tea and even that took far too long. I don't think anyone in their right mind would be happy to wait for iced water for half an hour...with only two or three tables occupied in the entire restaurant!

Food was equally slow but this wasn't too much of an issue for me as I was mainly focused on the sushi on the conveyor belt. My pregnant wife on the other hand had to wait more than half and hour for her chicken katsudon. On our first visit, my kids were already complaining so much that I had to go to the supermarket to buy them drinks while the drink orders never came. Like I said, terrible service.

On the other hand, the quality of food was standard and rather good. The only complaint I have about it is that the miso soup was waaay too salty. It was the same for both visits. I was satisfied with the choice of sushi on the belt (standard affair) and the rice menu was tasty, although it took too long to arrive.

Atmosphere was also nice and I like the design choice of cutlery and ceramic ware, especially the teapot and teacups. The robot could use some tweaking though, as I find it rather annoying to have to get up and pick up drinks from BEHIND it (at least make it stand sideways so that it's easier to pick up the order while sitting down).

Overall good food and atmosphere, terrible...

I recently visited Sushi Ajishou, and I'd like to share my thoughts. First off, I was genuinely pleased with the overall environment. The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance with tasteful decorations, and it was noticeably clean – something I always appreciate. The staff were also polite and attentive, which contributed to a comfortable dining experience. Furthermore, I found the pricing to be quite reasonable, offering good value for the dishes. However, I did find some areas where the dishes could be improved, particularly with the salmon sashimi. As you can see in the attached photos, the cut of the salmon sashimi felt inconsistent and, frankly, not as aesthetically pleasing as I've experienced elsewhere. Some slices were quite thin, which affected the overall texture and presentation of the dish. This isn't my first time dining at Sushi Ajishou; I've visited twice before and recall the food presentation being better on previous visit. Additionally, I found the black soy sauce to be a bit too salty for my personal preference. I'm not looking to offend, as I believe this restaurant has good potential. My hope is that these observations can be taken as constructive feedback for future improvements. I genuinely wish to see Sushi Ajishou continue to refine its offerings.

I see majority reviews here are good except for a few exceptional cases. So I just give it a try for the buffet and it blew my mind. I came on Monday 6pm, which is good because people still otw home from work so the place not crowded. Chose a table near to the kitchen where food move out on the belt so i can take it early. Plenty of variety - salmon, tempura, etc. Can pick several types of bottomless drink too. Strongly recommend you purchase the add-on grilled oyster mentaiko set when making your booking online, very fresh oysters and worth it (as shown in the picture). Waiters are very helpful and polite. Overall very satisfied. I give it a 9/10 šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘
