First and last sy dtg sini. Makanan tersangat lah teruk dr segi rasa and kuantiti. Tak berbaloi dgn harga langsung! Overrated betul, aniaya org. Cleanliness kedai jgn ckp lah, kotor. And sorang staff perempuan kat situ, layanan tak welcoming langsung.
Update: As the owner has so graciously replied. Id like to first start by saying thank you for your reply. Secondly, reading ur reply has brought confirmation that a persons ability to communicate well in a different language is no measure of intelligence and the way you frame ur reply to belittle ur customers confirms the mentality of the people behind this eatery.
As i am overtaken with emotions after visiting this god forsaken place, i have to admit that my choice of words may seem trivial and petty at best. But after reading your reply, i am suddenly filled with the passion to enlighten readers of this review regarding my experience.
Let us now begin. After entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a wairess and was shown to our table. Like other restaurants post covid, scanning and ordering is not something new. Common practice as one could describe. Going through the menu, we selected Combo A where it was stated in the E-Menu that it could be customised. After speaking with the waitress, we learnt that it could not. Is that misleading? I leave that between you and god to decide.
After ordering, we were instructed to make payments before receiving our meals. Now this practice for a "Restaurateur" is not common practice. I do belive i entered a restaurant and not a food court/food stall. With prices fit for a proper restaurant and the time of event not even at peak hour cutlery was "self service" but food was sent to our table which was good unlike your other review where customers had to take their own food and your reply was that the shop practice self service. Really a good way of being different as compared to other restaurants.
The waitress is really good at being a busy idiot. Looks busy but in reality is far from it. Now lets discuss about the taste of food. The ikan bakar talapia is not to my liking, without dipping it in some sweet sauce it is hardly enjoyable. The gulai udang galah was runny and the prawns were rubbery. This has something to do with the ingredients used and the cooking method. Mediocre at best.
The ayam goreng kunyit was riddled with the overuse of MSG. The fried egg was supposed to be proportionate for 2 but alas twas not.
Your reply of customers including myself regarding price is disingenuous as well as cynical. The prices are listed as is and customers like myself choose to go ahead with ordering our meals indicating affordability is not even the slightest issue. However we got disappointed with the outcome. Instead of correcting your establishment and further improving, you chose to respond in a way that belittles customers by mentioning a cheaper subset meals offered and suggesting perhaps those might be a friendly option is very condescending.
God willing, almighty god will let you see the errors of your ways and the arrogance you so nonchalantly portrayed and gives you the opportunity to change before its too late. Personally, i myself would avoid this establishment...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to Kampong’s, I had the opportunity to try their offerings, but unfortunately, the overall experience left much to be desired, particularly in terms of service and customer engagement.
Service & Atmosphere:
From the moment we arrived, the lack of hospitality was noticeable. There was no greeting, no smile, and no sense of welcome from the staff. The atmosphere felt just okay and indifferent, which set a rather disappointing tone for the meal. A basic level of friendliness should be a standard in any dining establishment, and sadly, Kampong’s fell short in this regard.
Food:
I ordered the Nasi Goreng with Ikan Keli and Tomyam for side.
Nasi Goreng: Edible and somewhat flavorful, though not particularly outstanding. The overwhelming presence of black pepper dominated the dish, masking other potential flavors. The spice level was not well-balanced, and while it might suit some palates, it lacks refinement.
Kid-Friendliness: One major concern was the lack of accommodation for children. I requested a non-spicy version of the nasi goreng for my child, only to be told by the staff that it could not be prepared differently as the dish was "pre-made" and available in only one flavor. This suggests that the dish may simply be reheated, rather than freshly cooked per order, a practice that raises questions about quality and flexibility.
Tomyam: Unfortunately, the tomyam fell significantly below expectations. It tasted like hot water mixed with instant tomyam paste haha lacking the depth, aroma, and complexity that defines a good tomyam. If you're craving authentic tomyam, you're better off visiting a proper Thai or tomyam specialty shop. It pains me to say this, but it was one of the weakest versions I’ve encountered.
Final Thoughts: Kampong’s has potential, but significant improvements are needed, especially in customer service and food preparation flexibility. A warm, welcoming attitude and attention to individual customer needs go a long way in elevating a dining experience. I hope the management takes these points constructively and works towards creating a more hospitable and family-friendly environment.
I'm sorry, I didn't took any photos of the food.
On the 5-Star Reviews: Before visiting, I read several glowing 5-star reviews on the restaurant’s Google page. After my experience, I can’t help but question the authenticity of some of those ratings, many could likely be from friends, family, or internal staff. I strongly encourage future patrons to read the 1- and 2-star reviews as well, which seem to offer a more realistic reflection of the...
Read moreI visited this restaurant today because my partner was craving Suka Dessert, the store next door. I ordered the Nasi Goreng Ikan Bakar Pari for RM24.90, having seen it on their Instagram the day before and the Nasi Tom Yam Seafood for RM15.90. For drinks, I had an iced lemon tea RM5 and a bottle of Summer brand drinking water.
Given the price of RM24.90 for the Nasi Goreng Ikan Bakar Pari, I expected two medium-sized pieces of stingray (Ikan Pari), as shown in the menu picture. To my disappointment, I received only one SMALL SIZE piece. Worse, the fish was far from fresh. I don't expect it to be same-day fresh, but the texture was off and very rubbery, not at all like stingray. The two accompanying sauces didn't complement the dish well, in my opinion. The nasi goreng itself was just average, rating about 6.5/10 – a basic egg fried rice.
The Nasi Tom Yam Seafood, priced at RM15.90, was better. The tom yam was flavorful and came with three large prawns. However, I was disappointed to find only one ring of squid not even half a squid just one small cut ring, which seems insufficient to label it as a seafood dish.
The iced lemon tea tasted faintly of tea but had a yellowish-transparent color, unlike the typical brownish hue of iced lemon tea. It seemed to be made from pre-made syrup. I'd rate it 6.5/10.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed, especially with the Nasi Goreng Ikan Bakar Pari, which felt like eating rubber. The service is self-service, where you collect your food from the counter, which I don't mind.
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but I felt compelled due to my disappointment. This restaurant has great potential, especially with the constant line at Suka Dessert next door, attracting potential customers. I hope this review encourages improvements in the...
