POLA-DOLA Cafe & Kitchen — Restaurant in Shah Alam

Second time here, lunch time. The environment was nicely decorated, garden feel inside a glass house. Is was sunny out side, me and my dad decided to sit at the shaded area which was meant for 4pax, but the staff insisted that we sit the 2 sitter that was under the sun 🤔. Because I wanted to let my dad try this place, so we stayed.

Both of us order cappuccino. The coffee was good, nicely roasted coffee bean with good matching milk.

I ordered the 5 items Big Breakfast. First time you have to choose what you want for your Big Breakfast. It was interesting and of course high expectations as the price wasn't cheap. Food came... The Beef Beacon was not hard, well cooked but it tasted not fresh (very strong unpleasant beefy smell). The Potato Salad was below average. The potato was cooked, but was very hard. Scrambled Eggs nothing to wow about, not creamy enough, slightly over cooked. Jumbo sausage, Hash Brown & Sourdough Bread was just normal. Dad had the grilled chicken with fries. The chicken was breast part, over cooked so it tasted hard and dry. Dad complain it was hard to eat. The fries were not cooked enough. Although it is cooked but was still whitish on the outside, so it wasn't crispy as expected. Overall the environment is nice but need to take care of the customer where they sit (not under the sun). One of my favorite place!

First, let me comment on the foods. We ordered Korean Chicken, Hamburg Steak and Lychee fizz as drink.

The Hamburg Steak comes with Mushroom sauce/soup, rice, omelet and simple salad on the side. The Hamburg Steak texture is nice, but a bit salty. It is homemade as you can see tiny bits of onion inside. The mushroom sauce or soup, I am not sure, but it taste the best! So good, it compliment the rice, the omelet and the steak! It complete the dish! The omelet egg is just nice. The simple salad they serve on the side also taste good to me because it fresh.

The Korean Chicken dishes comes with rice and simple salad on the side. The chicken taste so good, crunchy and really nice. Its not too spicy but not that mild either. I really like the taste of the sauce! However, as the price are the same with Hamburg Steak, it feels a bit lacking. I would recommend the owner to add on a fried egg in the dish.

Their Lychee Fizz was a good drink for me. I will always try lychee drink whenever I go, and this place is one of the best. Their lychee drink does not taste too sweet, and the drink are so refreshing.

The price are on the higher end side, but it worth it. The café ambience, decoration and all are so nice and picture-worthy. It suit rainy and sunny day well! The staff were also nice and polite.

POLA-DOLA has always been one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants, especially for its amazing Butter Chicken Rice. However, my visit yesterday around 2 pm (during an off-peak hour) was unexpectedly disappointing. There were only about two tables occupied, so the place was far from busy.

I encountered a new Indian waitress (the first time I’d seen her there) who seemed irritated after I politely requested to sit at a larger table for four instead of a smaller, round table for two. When I asked, "Would you mind if we sat here instead?" she tossed the menu onto the larger table, turned her back on us, and walked away with an annoyed expression, replying "No" in a dismissive tone.

This kind of behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable, especially in the service industry. I didn’t feel comfortable having her handle my food, so I asked my wife if we could leave. Before leaving, I calmly told the waitress I expected a higher standard of service and that her behavior came off as rude and unprofessional.

We ended up having a peaceful lunch at a nearby restaurant. I hope you address this incident by training your staff more thoroughly in customer service. In a competitive F&B industry, a respectful attitude toward customers is essential. POLA-DOLA deserves better, and so do we, your...
